Way to kick a man while he’s down
Well at least the American markets are getting the launch edition. Toyota didn't bother allocating any for Canadians and gave us only 1 option. They told us to take it or leave it.

I’m surprised the Phantom Matte Gray color option doesn’t look that stunning on Toyota’s website as compared to the actual model.

With the exception of the Matte Gray all of the colors are pretty standard, traditional colors, none of the metalic oranges or vibrant electric blues you see in BMW's lineup or on the Corvette, for example. The yellow is faded-orange/school-bus, the blue is too dark to stand out, and the rest are all rather blah. To me, the red is the only color that pops. The Z4 in comparison has some vibrant colors. It seems like Toyota got the short end of the stick on paint colors. I get the mechanical development, but why did they have to take BMW decade-old paints? Is it that difficult to ship Toyota/Lexus paint to Austria?

IMHO we (Canadians) are getting a good deal with the version they are shipping first -a loaded Supra ! The red leather and mirror caps does nothing for me.:puke:

With so few initial 2020 Supra's to go around (300 Canada wide) and assuming future years they will release the US Premium 3.0 version (with less features in Canada ) ,I'm more then happy to get our version of "Canadas Launch"
Trust me when peoples heads start turning and comments like "what the h*ll is that car" anyone who is driving it wont regret it.;)

Dang it, Toyota's Blue is always so ... meh... Was hoping for Subaru's WR Blue kind.
Spoken like a true 86 owner with the WR Blue. Isn't it interesting how they went with similar colors as the 2013 FR-S/BRZ (swap Hot Lava for Nitro Yellow).

FR-S
  • Argento [Silver]
  • Asphalt [Gray]
  • Firestorm [Red]
  • Hot Lava [Orange Red]
  • Raven [Black]
  • Ultramarine [Blue]
  • Whiteout [White]
GR Supra
  • Tungsten Silver [Silver]
  • Turbulence Gray [Gray]
  • Renaissance Red 2.0 [Red]
  • Nitro Yellow [Yellow]
  • Nocturnal Black [Black]
  • Downshift Blue [Blue]
  • Absolute White [White]
Being BMW and all, I would have thought they would release a Misano Blue or an Individual option.

Thought I'd put together all pictures featured in the website side-by-side along with Color Codes and Color Names for those who are currently undecided on the color :)
I had to resize 85% per file size limit as I didn't want to compress the image.
Anyhow, hope it helps people in their decision...

I got word from a reliable source that Launch Editions will, at least initially, be produced with 50% of them in red, 25% black and 25% white.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard this or if there are any numbers that were published as to the breakdown of the exterior colors produced?

I guess it kinda of makes sense, as red is definitely Toyota’s favored color in advertisements. I am hoping for a white one, it seems my chances just got slimmer....

I'm just annoyed that the red interior is only on the colors of launch edition and not an option for premium. The all black interior is boring. Honest in my personal opinion, it makes me either wanting a launch edition, or not at all. The all black interior is a deal breaker for me.

Phantom Matte Gray isnt being listed for the 3.0 but it is listed for the 3.0 Premium.

I wouldn't make plans to see many of them either, was told couple months back that they are going to be very few and far between ( like less than 100/yr for the whole USA ).

For those that have put their money down, what colour have you gone for?

More curious than anything!

I would have prefered White, but the dealership was sent red. Since my 86 is red, I'm okay with that.
