The AR1's run narrow so you should be good. For some reference, here are 275/35/19 AR1's on 19x10 square. You can see they should be fine on a 19x9 in the front (although not optimal), they are a pretty stiff tire

Been a hot minute since I've been on the forum, but picked up a Garmin Catalyst for $100 out of pocket (and some crafty usage of work perks). Now waiting for some good weather to actually go to the Ridge to see how it goes!
That’s a steal!

My first autocross event (in the Supra or any car). Need to adjust my GoPro exposure so apologies for the crappy view of the course. I'm hooked now. Noticed I was getting a lot of understeer so looking for dedicated wheel/tire setups. I did terrible obviously but still had fun. Any inputs appreciated :)

This was my best out of 5 runs:

NS results. Best time in the class was a 32.524:

Hey, thats OCCC! I had some friends there (Red Porsche Cayman and a McLaren 720S)

I stopped doing autox about 11 years ago when I did my first track day. Youll get more comfortable as time goes on. Keep your hands at 9 and 3. Don't shuffle steer, though I know some autox guys do it. And try to either be on gas or brake and don't spend time coasting. Have fun and if you end up doing a track day in Florida let me know!

Will do and thanks for the tips! I remember seeing both those cars out. The 720s sounded amazing.

This is solid advice.

The car will push unfortunately, but some of the allowable 'BS' mods that do help the car are as follows:

- Tires (RE71RS, A052, P1, etc.)
- Front sway bar (yes a front bar), it will help the car stay flatter during transitions
- Camber correction knuckles (AKA swivel bearings) will get you a touch more front negative camber, which is desperately needed by the car. If you don't plan on staying in Street class you have much better options.

And of course seat time and better yet an autox school/class. I have some Supra autox vides on my channel

Thanks! I do think tires would help a lot. Still on the factory front tires. Rears are new. And definitely more seat time.

this is good advice. also you are sitting too far away from the wheel, that makes steering harder

im the king of coasting….

Yeah but your line is really good ? You can hit the apex on turn 3 and turn later at 10, but otherwise stellar!

Having more confidence in your brakes will gain serious amounts of time. Your car can full throttle between turns 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 15-2. Each one of those zones you can threshold (straight line) HARD as hell brake. Those Hawk DTC 60/30 pads will easily handle it. Doing that alone will get you under 1:40. Those areas all have plenty of run off. So no biggie if you brake too late and miss your turn. But that’s later... Right now you’re absolutely right. Mash that throttle & brake in those zones. You’ll continually get better & become more comfortable braking later = going even faster.

Thanks ?? ??

I realized how much and for how long I was lifting my foot AFTER the weekend was over when I was watching the videos. My brain fights me still (survival reflex kicks in!)

?

I will be back in Homestead with FARA for the last weekend before summer and then return in October or something like that.

I definitely need to work on that and correct those turns - yes. I also realized I was not getting to the apex as well.

The devil ? is in the details!

One thing that helped me in my early track days was someone explaining to me "don't brake to slow down, brake to better setup for the corner ahead" and that was a lightbulb moment for me. It's not a circumstance of something before, it's a setup for what's ahead.

So view graduating from "Brake as late and as hard as you can" to what I mentioned above as a level to unlock.

This mindset then leads to trail braking to carry that speed to the apex with the grip at the front. Very helpful at several turns at Homestead.

This is something that nearly every student of mine runs into. They don't realize how hard their car can actually brake. So when theres no one around on track with us ill have them hit their brakes 100% well before a corner just so they know what it feels like and what the car is actually capable of.

But I see his line as being fairly off (then again I'm a perfectionist). Not using the pavement change for his line is the biggest part. Remember concrete provides higher of levels of grip in the dry vs asphalt, so use it to load up the outsude tires for more grip at Homestead.

Need things like turning in earlier for T3 and staying tight, turning in earlier and tighter for T8, turning in later for T10, not going so deep in T11 and just getting the final grouping of turns smoother. Then again I don't know the skill level of the video poster so I dont want to hammer down too hard. Just here to help!
