Hi everyone,

First post on these forums! Called Longo yesterday about the Supra. They are known for not putting dealer markups on their car and the waitlist shows... currently it’s 138 people long. Of course there will be some people who dip out of that list when it comes, but that’s still a lot of people. Compare that to another dealer in SoCal(forgot the name of it lol) who said they WILL do dealer markup, but don’t know the amount of which they’ll markup yet, which only had a waitlist (with deposits!) of 5 people.

Seems like ADM will have a serious effect on the demand of this car.
Longo is also a very high volume dealer and they likely will move through their list quicker than other smaller volume dealers. I'm moving from Louisville to California in August and have my name down at Longo as well, but I called Toyota of Louisville and they said even though I will be number 3 on their list (with no markup), they expect Longo will be allocated 20-30 cars before they get allocated 3.

Also I email blasted some SoCal dealers last night, and called some today, here are the ones who’ve responded to me so far, pretty frustrating as all of them will be having a markup. Something that was interesting was that Toyota of Culver City said they are looking to get the Supra around August-September.

Austin Toyota San Diego - will have markup.
Mossy Toyota San Diego - will have markup.
Toyota Carlsbad - will have markup.
Toyota of Orange - will have markup.
Toyota of Culver City - will have markup.
Toyota of Santa Monica - will have markup.
Toyota of Downtown LA - will have markup.
Toyota of Glendale - will have markup. They are getting 1 launch edition in June/July and will be charging 25k over sticker. This spot is open for whoever wants to drop the cash for it though.

Talked to Hendrick Toyota yesterday when I was getting the wife's car worked on. I've moved up to 2 on their list, and was told that they never mark their cars up. Probably because Rick Hendrick can afford to not mark them up when he knows it'll sell.
Any confirmation on this? I will probably order from them too if it is confirmed that there is no markup.

I've been talking with John Larson, and that's what I was told. He says they should be getting more than 1, and I know I moved from 3 to 2 on their list. Beyond that, I have no info.

ADM won't have any effect on demand, the ADM is a result of the demand.

Yea early adopter tax, if you can wait a few months there should be more cars at MSRP. It’s only a matter of time

I think this car can quite easily price itself out of oblivion. At the current msrp it is fine, but the markups push it past the point where I would consider the car.

Agreed, hopefully Toyota sees this and gives more allocations to dealers that don't charge over vs those who do. It's definitely priced at a sweet spot and Stealer markup can easily kill this car.

Dealer markup is beyond frustrating and the lies they tell you about why it’s “necessary”. Look at this bull Priority Toyota sent me this morning after already agreeing to do zero over MSRP over the phone.

“Good morning Mr. Wilson, due to high demand of the supras and a low supply and upcoming production of them, the dealership mark up is necessary and fair especially since we are the only dealership who offers 'Priorities For Life' with EVERY new or used vehicle here on the lot.”

I have found that Casey Toyota of Williamsburg Virginia is willing to do no dealer markup as long as the custom order does not affect their allocations.

Has anyone (besides the 1 person that's mentioned they have a VIN already) received any concrete information from their dealer they pre-ordered through confirming they are getting a LE?

The general consensus I'm reading here is that the dealers don't have a standard process for pre-ordering. And my experience was no different than most it seems. Given the lack of details and vague promises from the dealer I pre-ordered through, I'm a bit worried about what my deposit is getting me. I am first in line for a LE (allegedly) but the dealer couldn't tell me VIN, color, delivery date (7/22 is what I've gathered should be it for an LE), etc. Shouldn't this info be available already given how close we are to release?

I'm not getting any info here. NC, so Southeastern region. Apparently we always get allotments later than others.

Like I’ve said before, dealer training for the Supra is late June so don’t expect anything knowledgeable before that.

Good estimate for when I can annoy my nearby dealerships?

I just learned how Toyota in Carlsbad San Diego are going to price their Supras.
  • There is a hugeeeeeee waiting list
  • All Launch Editions are all spoken for, as in, they are already paid for. That makes sense since pricing is already available.
  • Subsequent trims are first come first serve on said waiting list.
  • They will not offer test drives
  • They believe this will be the only run of Supras so they are marking up all trims in an interesting way. They are, and I quote, are adding 15k worth of parts over MSRP. I have no idea if those are OEM, aftermarket or a mix....or if the sales guy is out of his depth.
It's interesting to note that the Carlsbad dealership thinks there won't be another Supra, ie, A90.1 or A90.2, after this. I get that demand is outpacing supply so as a business they can justify the mark up. However, I'd rather put my money elsewhere.
