All FWD cars have integrated transmission and diff (aka "transaxle") and there have been a few front-engine RWD cars that do it too (ie, Nissan GT-R). It is standard fare for many mid-engine or rear-engine sports cars. I never remember hearing about major failures with any of these but I suppose there are many different ways it could be done, with transmission and diff in different levels of proximity. Many of them share the same case and same gear oil.What do you think about the trans and diff setup in the c8. Looks like the diff is in the transmission. So if the diff grenades so does the trans. Food for thought.
