Alright, I’m a little embarrassed to ask this since it feels like I’m showing up late to the party, but I’ve searched around and couldn’t quite find a clear answer.

I’m based in California (so you already know where this is going 😅). Getting anything that’s not CARB legal is like pulling teeth out here. I’ve seen people mention shipping parts to a friend or family member in another state, but unfortunately, I don’t have anyone out-of-state who can help with that.

What I’m really looking for is a catted downpipe, something that keeps the car daily-driver friendly and not obnoxiously loud. I’ve been looking at the Kenji Garage 200 Cell Catted and the Active Auto Works options since I’ve read they both typically don’t trigger a CEL.

If anyone has some creative, somewhat legal, or at least realistic ideas for how to make this work in California, I’d really appreciate the insight. I know the “just ship it to a friend” route is the usual go-to, but that’s not an option for me.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has already been beaten to death. I did try searching before posting!

Ship it to someone you know out of state and have them ship it to you.

Umm.. can't you just go on a day trip interstate?
Would take about 7 hours to get to Nevada or Arizona from Los Angeles, CA.

More like 10+ when dealing with Los Angeles traffic.

California is a big ass state.

Coming from living in California most my life to now living in the New England/Tri-state area, it still boggles my mind when I drive only 40 minutes and cross three different states.

I've driven from LAX to Vegas a few times and have always found it to be a pretty chill drive once you're out of the city. I usually take the Death Valley route which is longer but always managed it in a day (one way).

Besides, what a great excuse to get out to Vegas, baby. 😂

Its about a 3 and half hour drive for me as my old man loves gambling so he knows "short cuts"
lol
Can't you just buy used?
Just from experience I don't want to buy used anymore. Had so many problems in the past, just to save some dollars.

Some companies will ship to their warehouse, then from the out-of-state warehouse will ship it back to you, a loophole. This is how I recently got the new piece for my JB4 that enhances the high-pressure fuel pump.

I like how you guys make it sound like buying a downpipe in Cali is like buying certain illegal substances...

Not understanding why you don't pick one up in Vegas, both the A90 Shop & Speed Industry are based there.
