Alright, I’m a little embarrassed to ask this since it feels like I’m showing up late to the party, but I’ve searched around and couldn’t quite find a clear answer.
I’m based in California (so you already know where this is going
). Getting anything that’s not CARB legal is like pulling teeth out here. I’ve seen people mention shipping parts to a friend or family member in another state, but unfortunately, I don’t have anyone out-of-state who can help with that.
What I’m really looking for is a catted downpipe, something that keeps the car daily-driver friendly and not obnoxiously loud. I’ve been looking at the Kenji Garage 200 Cell Catted and the Active Auto Works options since I’ve read they both typically don’t trigger a CEL.
If anyone has some creative, somewhat legal, or at least realistic ideas for how to make this work in California, I’d really appreciate the insight. I know the “just ship it to a friend” route is the usual go-to, but that’s not an option for me.
Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has already been beaten to death. I did try searching before posting!
