Whats the conclusion?
BMW M2 Advantages: It is a more practical "actual car" that can serve as a primary daily driver, featuring a functional back seat, a spacious trunk, and lots of storage. Its S58 engine is objectively more powerful, pulling hard to the redline, and it offers sophisticated electromechanical systems like multi-stage traction control, adaptive dampers, and programmable brakes for greater customization (22:24 - 23:02).

Toyota GR Supra Final Edition Advantages: While it isn't as ergonomic or practical for daily use, the Final Edition's chassis improvements make it a more nimble and engaging sports car. It offers a more connected driving experience with a traditional brake feel and less isolated steering. It is described as a brilliant weekend, autocross, or track-day vehicle that is impressively fast, managing to stay within half a second of the more powerful M2 despite being on narrower tires (23:05 - 23:44).

Final Verdict: The hosts conclude that the M2 is for someone needing a versatile, high-performance car that can do everything, while the Supra Final Edition is the better choice for an enthusiast who prioritizes a pure, engaging driving experience at the limit.

You know those miniature lego sets of different cars? The M2 already looks like the lego version of itself 😂. I don’t really mind that though and it’s a fast car. Supra looks sleek from all angles. A tune and a couple of suspension mods and it delivers pretty much everything you’d want out of a sports car.

won't lie, I actually like the full Adro kit on the M2.

That being said, feeling like I need to spend $20,000 plus cost of paint/wrap to make a $75,000 car look acceptable is not something I am into at all. Meanwhile all that the Supra "needs" for me is a trunk spoiler and spacers to look good.

I love the bit where they say the Nismo Z will make a good review against the M2 in "driver experience." The guy is a clown for the Z and it will 100% lose against a quasi-discontinued Supra in pretty much every metric, let alone a full blown M car. 🤡

The Nismo Z actually is more theatrical to drive than the M2 (G87 is numb as fuck), delivering a deeper driving experience than the M2 which is why they saying it. It has nothing to do with any measurable metrics like acceleration, braking distance or track times

I can't speak for how they drive, but I've seen some a few Z/Nismos and the general design/build quality has always left me wanting. The specs only make it worse. I have driven an M2 however, and I think calling it a little numb isn't unfair, but numb af may be a bit of an exaggeration. 😅

On the flip side, they noted how mechanically dated the Z was. This was one of the videos that made me decide on the supra. If the Z chassis is not as stiff, is aerodynamically poorer, and has a lower power ceiling, this put the nail on the coffin that trying to track the Z would be an uphill battle. Yes, you can, but you're going to make your life more difficult for no reason.

Agreed the Z (even Nismo) is made like shit...with components carried across from over 2 decades ago (hello 350Z)...my comparison of the G87 was against the 1M and the M2C which I both owned in the past. i just could NOT put down a deposit on the G87 after numerous test driving. Sales guy told me if I want those traditional M experience back, I need to folk up extra for the CS or whatever limited-edition model BMW was going to come up with. He said these days, most M customers prefer comfort over go cart experience. I have no problem with that explanation. They just not going to get my money. My next car will again be another GR

The nail in the coffin for me was that it STILL has the fuel starve issue on hard turns below 75% of a tank that the 350Z and 370Z have.

And that it has an open-deck engine that's known to not be able to handle much power past stock without needing to swap the block or seriously building the engine (and that its turbos can't add much power over stock unlike the Supra's stock turbo)

And that the interior was more or less the 370z's but with an updated infotainment and digital gauge cluster (Identical doors to the 370z and ugly PlaySkool looking cheap plastic adjustment wheels on the seats in the 2020's on a car that costs $50K in sport trim? Really???)

And that the exhaust sound when stock is terrible thereby requiring you to do a full exhaust system pronto upon purchase

And that you still can't do a burnout in one because of the "Safety system" and all of the wonderful ways always-on traction control screws with you and makes the experience worse when trying to do spirited driving

And that ugly front-end that, while it does look better IRL, is still bland and out of place. (They REALLY should have full committed to retro styling and made the front end look like a 300zx, I really don't see any 80s/90s Z in the front end except maybe the head lights)

(You see, coffins have more than one nail....)

As someone that came from a 370z, and spent an embarrassing amount of money trying to make it into a car I wanted to keep, the new Z is a trainwreck. I still love the car (in an odd "I know she's not my type but..." way), but Nissan clearly didn't give a damn when making it, or at least, didn't care about enthusiasts when making it. For the money you are legitimately better off supercharging a GR86/BRZ for the track than trying to make the Z into a track weapon (or you know, paying $10K more for a Supra or buying a used Supra for the same MSRP as the sport Z.)
