I'm going to be buying a 2022 3.0 premium, and one of the things that I really liked about the 2020 model was the pops or burbles in the exhaust note after letting the gas go or down shifting. How can this be achieved in the 2021+ models?

Unrelated, are there no differences between the 2021 and 2022 3.0 premiums?

Thanks

Sadly the only way you can get the burbles to be in excess like on the 2020 is to get a tune that allows you to control the frequency of the burbles, when the happen, how long they last, and how loud they are. I know you can control this via EcuTek tunes and I can control this via MHD tuning.

Did you not test drive the 2022 model? The pops, bangs, and burbles are still there when in sport mode (also the case on the 2020). The 2021+ were apparently tuned so there are fewer pops and bangs, but it's very much still there.

And as far as I know, there might be a seat color difference on the 2022 model? But that might also only be on the CF edition. ?‍♂

I have not test driven the 2022, since it's over 100 miles away from me. I'm going next weekend to just buy it, I have test driven a 2020.

From all the reviews the 2021 even in sport mode barely has any pops.

Well, mine makes plenty of burbles and small pops, but it's only every once in a while that it does a big ol' gunshot/backfire. I'm sure there are side by side videos of exhaust notes

You spelled 'Gladly' wrong. I love not sounding like an asshat constantly, but to each their own.
Ohh I meant "sadly" for the OP because he/she wants them on the 21-22 year model, and they are no where near as aggressive on the factory 21 and 22 tunes. That's what I meant lol. I myself have mine set to the minimum possible without being fully disabled.

Who did the tune you're running?

Since more than half of 2021 and all 2022+ models are currently untunable (even though some headway is being made in that regard), you can still modify the exhaust for more burbles without a tune also.

A catless downpipe with cat simulator/defouler since you can't tune out a CEL (Armytrix for example) would be your best bet for a lot more pops, but even a catted downpipe will yield more burbles and pops. Additionally, an exhaust (the less restrictive the better) will either maximize the volume and tone of the pops, or even help add them, such as the Boost Logic, AWE Track Edition, Tomei, or Magnaflow X-Mod.

2022 3.0 Premiums have the option for a red interior.

No experience with the ‘20, but pops and bangs definitely there in Sport mode on the ‘21. Even more so if you use BimmerCode to enable Sport Plus mode.

Can you use bimmercode on locked ECUs?
