Also, the manual transmission is the last thing that Tada-san finalized before retiring. He retired nearly 2 years ago now. This transmission has been testing in prototypes since 2018 (maybe earlier even).

The manual being released now wasn't because of a long R&D process. It was because Toyota has a set strategy for achieving consistent sales targets over the course of this cars 5 year projected lifespan.

I don't want y'all to think I'm shitting on the gearbox, it's a fine manual. Just needs a good aftermarket shifter to be perfect. My style of manual that I prefer is like an S2000, Miata, or 86. I want to feel gears and synchros meshing in my hand, not to be isolated from it through rubber bushings. Just my preference.
Totally agree with this ☝
And still liked my manual M3. But the S2K and MX5 are definitely manual bliss 🥰

^This is true, hence why updates every year, and why it is almost guaranteed the latest will be the greatest, pleaaaseee sport-top next year. People who say it has one now cuz the Z got one is half right, Toyota had the MT ready and just waited for the right time to release, it takes more than 3 months to develop a MT supra after a Z release :p . The gearbox is a ZF with the same ratios as the M3/4 and M240i, and uses the M3 rear diff, with reengineered clutch and shifter hence why the legit reviewers can tell a difference. Dudeinblue just released another review FYI

Has anyone published the full set of gear ratios and final drive of the manual? Hoping to replicate the gearbox in FH5.

There was a video of the european press release event with all the technical details on Youtube, but it's now flooded with US reviews so I can't find it anymore. I took this crappy pic:
final drive 3.46
1st: 4.110
2nd 2.315
3rd 1.542
4th 1.179
5th 1
6th 0.846
reverse 3.727

It's pretty nice in GT7 on a track, assuming your Supra is 380whp instead of 380hp. But yeah the ratios is why the economy is 4mpg worse. It would be interesting to see what kind of power the MT supra makes to the wheels cuz MT has less drivetrain loss than AT typically

I'm not sure where you got that information, but it is incorrect.

Attached are the specification releases direct from Toyota and BMW for the Supra, M240i and M3.

As you can see, every ratio is the same.

You're right, I was given some wrong information. Thanks for clearing that up!

Does this help? Did a quick calculation.

GR_Ratios.JPG
Yup, looks right, I did the same calcs before and it's the same. For those who want to try this ratio out irl before buying, see if your friends have a tuned B8/8.5 MT S4 with a 7000RPM, I have one myself and it's nearly identical speeds in each gear with 350whp. Supra will be faster still ofc cuz it's another 300kg lighter and a bit more power to the wheels

Not a lot of shifting going on with all that torque. Love the B58 engine! Video should be titled 3rd gear track day 🙃
CU Later grey looks pretty close to a color we had on our 2009 Mazda 6, Comet Gray Mica. CU looks a bit darker but really liked that color on the Mazda, had quite a bit of yellow and a tiny bit of green flake in it. All 3 new colors look pretty nice but pedestrian compared to red/yellow/refraction.

yeah, i've noticed Toyota doing a 3 year pattern
Manual 3 years after launch
Targa most likely 3 years after the Sport Top concept was unveiled

A manual targa top supra is the dream. Haven't even taken delivery of my A91-MT yet, but if they come out with a targa in a year or so, I might be back at square 1 trying to hunt down another allocation.
