I agree i think there’s better tuners with BM3 i also see more and more cars going with it now rather than mhd and also higher hp cars with top mount

I don’t want any part of messing with fuels
With your JB4, you can get an E content analyzer and just switch to a custom E map for when you go to the track, the switch back to your 93 map when you’re done. Have to be mindful of what’s in the tank though (hence, the analyzer).

With ecutek, you can install a flex fuel kit and fill up with ANY mixture of pump and E you want and the ecu will adapt (making peak power around E50 on stock fueling system cars). Something to consider long term. Ecutek has a phone flashing FYI (like MHD), but it’s an additional one time fee for the license. The Supra has pretty strong remote tuning support (flash, log, send to tuner, repeat) FWIW.

I think you said this is a new-to-you car? I’d get a custom tune with the JB4, send it, and not rush into a different tuning platform until you have an idea of your long term power goals for the car. Keep going to BMSP and the itch will come soon enough!

For daily/street cars, it's just a little silly to compare BM3/MHD/Ecutek. If you're not doing RaceRom stuff and plan on a 93 tune only- they all modify the same underlying data/tables in the ECU. It's the tuner's preference, not the software. It's saying one brand of hammer is better than another when you're not the carpenter, you're just buying the chair.

If you're only considering OTS tunes, I have no idea why you'd do that.

Then again, I know very little about tuning and even less about this platform, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is exactly why I never try to shit on any of the other tuning platforms, I simply just suggest MHD because I've used it, it's incredibly easy and noob friendly, and the OTS tunes were fantastic, for me anyways. The tuning platform seriously depends on your goals.

It seems like it’s a bit easier to go faster/more power on catless downpipe. I’m probably never gonna do fuel. I can see me trying to explain that to my wife “no honey you can’t take a bigger suitcase we need room for the E85 mix” ?
Having just switched to a catless (ceramic coated Evolution Racewerks) from a catted (Active Autowerke) downpipe, it absolutely is. Even with just bolt-on power mods on my '21 (drop-in HKS filter, JB4 w/ @Jesse DaBears 93 tune, the downpipe, and an AWE Track exhaust), there's a noticable bump across the powerband. It also made the car sound like a full on race car (raspiness and volume), especially with my exhaust choice. Just be aware of that. The car sounded "better" with the Active Autowerke downpipe.

Also, hypothetically, shouldn't running a catless downpipe result in less heat under the hood? In addition to the component not having a part specifically designed to be hot and burn fuel, it should cool down more quickly. Given the same material for the pipe itself and not having a heat insulting coating.

I didn't! IMO, BMW put the light in just about the least noticable place on the dash as it could be and made it surprisingly dim. Much less annoying than on the center of the dash or the speedo/tach and super bright like I've had it on some of my cars. But, this isn't my daily driver. I don't have to look at it everyday.

The fact you went to Bradenton to test your new ride out is awesome! Appreciate your real world, plain and simple write up/post on this subject. When do you plan on adding Sebring to your checklist and see what else your new toy can do? ? Hit me up anytime you’re considering it. At least until May. After that, you already know what it’s like down here. ?

Im dowin for some track days for sure. I am a little concerned about the how fast the traction control system intervenes I’ve seen some videos with it off and it still kicked on and almost crashed the car. Serious brown pants moment.

Also I had my own issues with it the front tires were the originals so they had like 15k on them and the alignment was ever So slightly out and no joke it would kick the VSC on going through an off ramp on The interstate pusling the brakes like a madman. I got a new alignment and new front tires and that seems to have gone away but wow it pulled the mom card on me hard.

Turn it one click off. All traction on I found is grandma mode. With just one click off, not fully off, my supra is running with the big boys in advanced group with very little intervention, usually when I do really stupid things and then I am glad it's helping. I have yet to feel like it's trying to kill me.

I find it funny watching some of these videos from the past with people saying you have to turn traction control fully off or the car will try to kill you or you will be slow. You can tell they are driving the car like an ape and then crying that traction control is intervening all the time.

Smooth is fast.

Turn it one click off.
This is the way.

If I'm on a track I don't know or the conditions aren't optimal, this is the way I do it. I also use this method by default on the road. I really never drive with it fully on. Fully off only on the track.

I hear ya and have felt those suckers come on at high speeds. It wasn’t dangerous but it was obtrusive as hell. It definitely will cut your apex speed and eat through brakes faster than intended. Thanks to Toyota, you can hold that button down for about 3 seconds and turn everything off.

Thanks to professional coaching, I finally learned to drive with everything off in a S2000. That was something the pros always did and one of the 1st things they made me do. Shut it all off, feel the car and learn control. So my preference now is all the way off. As long as you are comfortable being in full control and have experience on a wet track or skid pad - have at it! Being on the edge and counter steering in this car is easily doable.

I’ll be at Homestead Jan 14/15 if you’re interested. If not then, there are tons of other days until May. I’ve met a bunch of other Supra peeps out there. Look forward to seeing you on track!
