Decision: So I decided rather than wait for people to submit graphs, and time's etc etc. I would snatch some builds from people on the thread lol. I would link and tag all of the people that I put on the thread if everyone is fine with it. Would this be okay?
Yes! I give you permission.

I think someone else brought this up in another thread tho I can't seem to find it.

For ECU cloning, any BMW with the B58 ECU pre june 2020 will work? Or is it more specific then that?

Theoretical question, as I’m trying to get a game plan together for my mods this year… (also I know people get crabby when people throw theoreticals, but hear me out for two weeks)

My exhaust is full active Autowerke, so full 3.5” except for the OE neck down. As of next week will be full 3.5”, so I’m at least improving on one restriction…

I’d like some feedback on the idea of two mod paths, one modest, one big turb

DAW Hypercore drop in upgrade vs DAW Ultra Flow-R. 93 Octane fuel only for daily use, with occasionally throwing in some variable ethanol blend up to E50, but realistically just being a normal adult and sticking with 93.

If let’s say you were in my shoes, wouldn’t in theory, the Ultra Flow-R be more fun since it would spool marginally later, but also build power all the way to redline, vs the Hyper-core?

Per discussions, I got the impression that the Hypercore would remain like stock where you just wanna shift at 6500 because the turbo is falling off. But the Ultra Flow-R would be making power right to the 7k redline, and perhaps extending it to 7500 would allow a truly wider power band.

Everyone kinda knows from experience if you’ve been around performance cars for a while is that peaky turbos car be a bit more fun and engaging because of the big push you get up top that just keeps building till you shift.

The max ceiling I would imagine wouldn’t really change for power, but rather the application of said power would be able to last longer and stronger, right? After all with forced induction, camshaft specs become a *little* less important anyway. It would just come down to timing changes to a degree to keep it happy at higher revs.

Would the car with the bigger turbo even then benefit from say a mildly increased redline (like 500 RPM) on the larger turbo? Everyone likes more revs, just a thought as my B58 cars revs lower than my S55 powered car.

P.S. sorry for the rambling, these are “stoned at 11pm thoughts while I decide how to spend more money on my Supra that I’ll definitely spend one way or another.”

I’m itching to upgrade, and ultimately the price difference at this lower spending level to me is negligible. 1.7k vs 3.3k for the upgrade.

excellent question.gif

Why don't you get a DAW Flow Max? It's pretty much the middle of the road between these two. Wouldn't it have a really good curve and better top end than the Hypercore?

DAW flow max seems like it's in a weird spot.

the hypercore has the advantage of being super easy to install. however, if you're going to go through the effort to pull the turbo, you might as well install something that has a slightly higher ceiling... especially with their pricing where the two are essentially the same.

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking. Might as well just go fuckin’ big and see how long my clutch lasts. I’ll keep one on the shelf, lol

New DAW incoming.

Maybe something for the two weeks section. lol

I'm exhausted of companies announcing stuff that is half-baked. It's a waste of time and effort to make assumptions and speculate on shit like this. No need to sit around and wait for good aftermarket turbo options, there are plenty that serve all sorts of use cases from a bit better than stock to full out top mount high HP setups. ?‍♂

I'm no crazy insider but I do know the dude that is currently testing both new versions. The big boy will flow a lot more than the ultra flow r. Both are still stock location.

The Remnant Omega 65 has also already been dyno'd to push over 1,000hp as well (i thought i recall seeing that anyway, if not 900's), stock location turbo. 99% of us probably not going to push a stock location turbo to it's full potential anyway.

I guess I’ll just wait until 2028 when two weeks are up and I won’t get buyer’s remorse because something better is coming out this week

I was holding out for state-side partial unlock service but it doesn't look promising and maybe never will be, so i had to give in and do the Femto thing like everyone else, as much as it pains me.
