No, data is written to JB4 box. You don't need to be connected to the app.
Can I pull out the JB4 OBDII port plug and still maintain my custom MAP-6? I'd only want to do this while tracking to see some other functionality while tracking, such as shift points when I link it up to one of my laptimer apps with video.

No, you need to leave the OBD port connected.

You won't lose your tune, but the JB4 will not be able to calculate everything it needs to.

Good clarification. Thx! So, it won't perform as intended until I plug it in again... Wonder if they make an OBD2 splitter ?

They do, but there's not enough juice in OBDII to power both, unfortunately.

Holy wealth of JB4 and OBD port knowledge Batman! I still can take good video and use my XGPS for accurate speed and G's. Regardless, you saved me a ton of time. Thanks brother!

to bring this back from the dead ... Jesse spent a lot of time with me getting my car dialed in on an e30 jb4 tune and right now i am keeping up with a lot of other supras with flash tunes ... as fast as or faster than most of the unlocked bm3 93 octane guys and really only lost by about 1.5 cars to a e50 botti tuned auto supra. So there is a way to make it work

Too many to list
So the JB+ adds 4psi of boost and JB4 map 2 also adds 4psi of boost, then what would be the reason to go for JB4 on a stock car?

If you want to customize your tune w/out sending out the ECU, JB4 is a good way to go. Not reinventing the wheel, lots of peeps know it well, including Jesse. Great for ÂĽ mile times or maximizing power with different fuel blends.

I got mine “for free” by trading in my OEM downpipe for a catless. I got a custom tune to see what it could do. Now I turn it on while driving in town for fun. It’s pretty amazing how much more power you can feel on a butt dyno ?

jb+ has no knowledge of the engine's rpm or pedal position, so it will simply apply an offset to the boost signal all the time, including at idle. this can occasionally cause error codes because the dme thinks "wtf is the engine doing, that doesn't make any sense"

Reviving the thread with a noob question. What’s the difference between map 2 and map 6?

Map 2 is built in by JB4. It’ll give you a little more boost w/out overdoing it. Map 6 is a blank slate you can customize with tuners like Jesse or Colonel Adam
