When the car is put in reverse, the mirrors tilt down automatically for a better angle of the side of the vehicle and the curb.
However, I've noticed that only the passenger side mirror tilts down now. Both mirrors are supposed to tilt when reversing, right?

The theory is that it allows you to see the curb that you're parking against to get close. Legally, in most places, you should only ever park against the curb on the passenger side of the car, facing in the direction that traffic is moving.

Toyota/BMW just doesn't care about those of us living in real cities, where everything is one way.

I programmed mine out because I use my mirrors when I reverse. Having the mirror tilt was horrible ?

The stock tilt is so extreme. Once changed I definitely use it for parking downtown. But it took me a second to realize its switch position dependent like was said.

You didn’t have to program it out to stop the tilt, you just had to move the mirror selector switch to the left. It’s a BMW thing. Having the witch to the right activates the tilt.

Or better yet, BimmerCode it to tilt however much or little you want.

It was easier to code out than deal with it from now on.

Picked up my 45th AE a couple months ago and I’ve been through all the menus so many times to get the tilt to stop with no success. Thanks so much for the advice! I am going to try this tomorrow. So annoying when the mirror tilts down when backing into the garage.
