Hi to whomever is reading this I have recently decided to buy the upcoming 2023 toyota supra or the 2022 supra still have not decided and to the people saying wait on the manual this going to be my main car so daily driving going back and forth I would like to stay with conveyance of an automatic.
So I am not new to the world of moding cars however I am not that informed either so this thread is basically going to be me asking a lot of questions it would appreciated if you can answer some thank you in advance. I will first pull up my overall info about the subject then diverge into questions in the subcategories below it. P.S a lot of the questions will be based on what I saw other people do so sorry if I sound dumb or uninformed about a subject so please go easy one me I've taken a keen interest on the supra and moding it and wanna be part of this nice community
1. ECU: So for the ECU I heard a lot of talked about how the DME is locked and all but I dont get it whats a DME and I've seen people mentioning visconti tuning for an ECU unlock that I get a bit. Also saw people mention a semi tune if you could call it that with the JB4 but I dont know whats a JB4. Finally whats an ECUTEK I see a lot of people having it on their supras and I saw some bmw videos. I am looking to custom tune my soon to be supra with 2 maps one for daily driving and the other one for a track or racing or whatever
1.1: whats a DME why is it locked and is there a way to crack it?
1.2: whats JB4 and what does it do and why isnt it being used by everyone
1.3: whats an ECUTEK?
1.4: is it possible to tune your supra over the locked ECU? and if so is it so bad?
2. Intake: As for intakes I know some basic knowledge about them. I've seen people install the injen intake on their supra's and that intake sound so gooood. However an upgrade to that are carbon fiber intakes which look amazing and sound amazing but is there really a big difference that I should consider the carbon fiber intake?
2.1: Are carbon fiber intakes that good from a normal intake? Should I consider one?
2.1.1: Are charge pipes necessary? What difference do they make?
2.1.2: Why the do prices for carbon fiber intakes shoot up way higher than normal intakes. I get it there carbon fiber but is it really worth it?
2.2: What intakes would you recommend? based on your experiences
3. Downpipe: A lot of people recommend catless downpipes, but over here in the UAE due to the strict law we have over here against moding and all I dont wanna risk it and wanted to go with a downpipe with a cat converter.
3.1: through my time for searching for parts and stuff I truly fell in love with the AMS downpipe. However what would your recommendations be? based on your experiences
4. Exhaust?: As for the Exhaust I dont really think an Exhaust is really necessary. The stock Exhaust to me sounds amazing and I havent really looked much into exhausts. However the Takeda 3 sounds amazing but I dont see it adding that much power. Due to strict noise laws here in the UAE (as I mentioned before) its fine to go for an exhaust however if I ever go for one I dont know what to go for maybe an exhuast with valves so that in comfort it does not sound as loud but in sport rips with its voice that I am fine with but what would you recommend.
Thank you for reading my post this is my first one and hopefully one of many I hope I am welcome into this community.
P.S sorry for all the dumb questions but you gotta start somewhere right?
