Ah, okay, I think I'm understand...

Flow is modded SWFK/SWFL for an EU Z4, which you can enable 1CR VO remote start option (ala, your magic sauce)... Since the Supra has BDC3, its possible and shouldn't break anything.

Then forged FSC to enable the remote start feature. Then some coding to enable it in the head unit.

I guess this raises the question, is there any other fun stuff you could do if it thinks it's a Z4, like M style HUD?

If I'm following right, clever!
Another question to ponder -- Did Femto follow the same path when they would enable this option after being unlocked? I'm guessing no, as they stopped doing it because it was too cumbersome. I also dont recall any user mentioning that they were able to use the Supra app to start the service.

Is this non US software? I know outside of the USA the flap functions differently aka stays open most of the time and I believe the burbles are significantly less present on Supras in other countries.
Aussie cars are the same: Compared to the US we have reduced burbles and practically always open exhaust flap on stock cars.

Unfortunately, I believe the M style HUD - if you are talking shift light/tachometer - is a hardware limitation.

It still makes me wonder if there's a way to hack together a solution that's similar enough.

All the HUD really does is render information from the nbt evo head unit... We know this because of Bluetooth connectivity, where you can see songs, get directions from the HU... We know that data from the pt-can bus is received on the headunit (thanks sports display)... We have console access to the head unit... There's gotta be some way to manipulate the data displayed...

Might be a fun weekend project.

No notes on this one, but it makes me wonder... Does BMW trust the fsc codes that are activated on the vehicle implicitly for connected services? They must, right? As remote start isn't available for this model full stop. You cant pay BMW money to activate this feature like you could on a G series... So weird...

A little different. They modified the software during unlock.

I have no first hand experience but when I looked into it, the roadblock I ran into was that we were missing an M module of some kind to make it work. Also, retrofitting this module looked to be way more trouble than it was worth. Now, I don't know how accurate this information was but it was enough to get me to give up on the idea.

I ended up putting shift lights in my steering wheel to scratch my tacho/shift light itch. 😃

There may be issues enabling the factory M-style HUD through coding, but I’m not convinced the hardware is incapable of displaying something similar. Since the HUD stays active while NBT EVO reboots, it seems likely the KOMBI renders predefined elements while the head unit sends it data, such as navigation arrows and distances (whenever we enable the BMW-iDrive GPS). If we could identify and reproduce those navigation messages, we might be able to repurpose the existing HUD elements into a basic shift-light or tach-style display. I recall from another post you’ve already gotten custom code running on the head unit, so I’d be very interested to hear whether you think tracing or injecting those messages is realistic.

I would rather they connect and turn off auto start stop. That is more worth the money

I think it's getting it's video signal directly from the cluster.

I'm surprised no one has built some kind of lvds compositing box where you could just inject an overlay via HDMI or something.

I'm still waiting to get my hands on the MHD Unlocker tool, but I can confirm that the exhaust flaps on the locked and stock tune are still working. I will confirm if they still work after flashing MHD.

I also noticed that the stock burbles and pops have been reduced. So it suggests that the EU Z4 firmware flash that someone here suggested might be true. Not sure what it means when it comes to performance versus the stock Supra tune.

It probably explains why I also get a lot of error codes (hidden and not hidden) showing up when I do a scan on BimmerLink.
