How often do people get their oil changed? After my first break in oil change, the service guy at the dealer said every 7k miles should be fine but I keep seeing people post about 5k miles but they take theirs to the track or tuned. I am stock and follow the speed limit ?.

Is 7k pushing it?

From what I’ve read, 7k should be fine (time should also be a consideration if it’s not your daily). If you’re worried about it, you can do an oil analysis and they can give you a recommendation. From other people’s analysis, 9k seems like the upper limit. 7k seems like plenty of buffer.

On the MKVs, I do mine at about 6,500, along with swapping tires side to side if they aren't directional.

Oil is cheap right? Less than a tank of gas. Maybe just drain and fill at 4k, then do a full change with filter at 8k. Also doesn't turbo cars require earlier oil changes?

Y’all got me thinking, I can’t look at it (easily), it’s cheap (relatively), so I did my 1st oil change at 3500 miles….

And mainly tracking her. Doesn’t fit the city or highway category ?

It all depends on your driving habits and if it's mostly city or hwy driving. If you floor it at every given moment you will want to change it earlier.

If you do lots of hwy driving id do 5k and city 3k.

You have to remember often times people on the forums tend to be overkill with maintenance. I treat all cars the same once a year or when the car says its due. Did this on high end cars and lower end cars never once had any problems.

To add to OP's question, what other services should we be doing sub 30-50K miles? When should be do transmission fluids, brake fluids, Cold Air Intake Filter Change?

The manual doesn't really explain this stuff?

Oil change intervals a largely determined by what conditions the car is driven in. Short trips where the oil temp stays low or a lot of commuting then more regularly than a car thats driven mainly on freeways for longer durations. Then there's track and "sports driving" which is more often as well.
Lots of cold weather commuting and/or cold start cycles then more often.
A group 4 full synthetic oil in a car driven under benign/ideal conditions can go quite some time between oil changes. 10,000 miles driven under those conditions is fine but under the afore mentioned " non track day" conditions 5000 miles would be more advisable.

A couple great advice posts on this thread so far, I’d add that the Blackstone report thread on this forum is a great resource. You can see lots of oil change intervals, sometimes driving conditions, and the results from Blackstone labs. Come to think of it, I gotta get off my butt and post my last report.
one of the big takeaways from the thread is that these are pretty great engines that can handle a lot of dif oil types and OCIs.
