video is up....

frustrating day. SCCA TT were really pushing. green track from all the rain, track was colder and less grip than anyone expected. several offs. two cars bumped and went off. several spins. one crash prob 20k damage brand new GR 86

I was too cheap this time and thought i could squeeze one more aggressive TT day out of heat cycled out CRS. I was ice skating all over. could not turn, put power down, or even brake like i can there. was over second off PB and 2.5 seconds off where i should have ran. oh well i survived.

had fun w some friends in the advanced fun run sessions after i gave up on TT until.... i sheared a grade 10 bolt in my race seat. was leaned back and sideways trying to make it back to pit!!!
Holy sheeeeeee…. ? That track looks like so much damn fun! I was watching that Porsche thinking drive off, drive off, drive off…. He didn’t drive it off ? I’m sure you were thinking (watching) the same thing ?. Good avoidance!

Yeah, sucks when you loose that confidence in your tires (or car) & not due to track conditions. Great call to dial her back and just make the most of it. That’s all feel. You can see it in your driving. Well dun Rock ?

Have my first HPDE with the Supra coming up this weekend at Auotbahn Country Club South. Switching to Liqui-Moly 5w30 and Motul RBF600 beforehand. Otherwise everything else is stock. Have any tips for me? Tire pressures? Leave everything in sport mode? etc

I like to drop my tire pressure to 30 psi at the start of each session. You will get a couple warnings from the system for low tire pressure but I havent had any issues.

Dont put your emergency brake on after youre done with each session. Just leave in park.

Dont use RBF600. I have been getting a soft pedal with it. Going to be putting in some Castrol SRF here shortly.

Leave traction control on
Sport
Leave in auto and concentrate on the line and listening to the instructor
^ I'm with this guy. Don't leave all the nannies on, they make the car extremely unpredictable. I had to do a session in limp mode and the ASC nearly "corrected" me right off course. Sucked.
Traction control should be fine. One click off on the nanny button. It will still make corrections, but only after the car is beyond saving anyway.
The car's transmission borderlands on genius, so leaving it automatic and not worrying about shifting would be just fine.
If you're not worried about braking points, turn in, apexes, etc. Then go ahead and have fun in manual mode.
These cars are ridiculously capable right off the showroom floor. This was me the morning after I bought mine ?

I haven't seen the spec posted anyplace else, but I just got off the phone with Eibach for their front bar rates.

Eibach (3 way adjustable) is:
Front: 29mm
OE - 123 in/lbs
Slot 1 - 366 in/lbs
Slot 2 - 442 in/lbs
Slot 3 - 516 in/lbs
Holy cow the softest setting is 300% of OEM. I have mine on middle.

There'll be stuff you need to monitor based on track temperature and stuff, like your tire pressure (I go for 35 PSI hot). Sport mode for sure.

Start with traction control fully on and auto mode while you learn the lines, braking points, etc. You should eventually go to manual mode and go for VSC only (short click of the TC button). TC can be a bit intrusive on some tracks and I've noticed instances where the car holds gears a bit too long, and you as the driver should get an idea of how much pace you can carry as the day progresses.

And yeah, don't use the ebrake when parked.

If you was the best pedal feel go with Endless fluid.

If you don’t want to spend that much Project Mu G-four is half the price has never let me down. I ran Pmu fluid for a solid 5-6 years of track/racing, went to endless and never looked back.

Not sure if you saw it a few pages back but I posted the Supra GT4 sway sizes.

26mm front
22mm rear

Funny that you mention the 300%, the “tuner” industry has been doing this for ages… “let’s just take factory data and increase by 250-300%”. You can cross reference the majority of the coilover systems on the market and you will see that they’re not far off from each other. Even some of the watered down high dollar brands are doing so. /endrant

Great advice from the others ofc. Have fun man. That’s what your 1st track day should be focused on. Keep it simple. Learn the line. One click off if you see your dash lighting up (doubtful on your 1st time out - but that’s track dependent).

Love how someone said just keep the tire pressure down to 30 psi before each session. The key is not going over 36 psi after a full 20-30 min run. You can’t always do that. So you can check before (when you have more time) as well as a gauge. Later you’ll run hotter and have to go out with lower pressures. The pros way lower than us weekend warriors.

Also, my 2 cents on brake fluid. I’ve seen any brand faulted for mushy brakes. It’s either air in the line or the fluid became more “wet”. Bleeding your brake lines (not the brand) if you track often. Motul, Castrol, ATE, you name it DOT4 on the bottle is more important than the brand name. Eventually anyone recreational can get lazy. The Castrol SRF has the highest wet temp if you don’t change your fluid as often (only bleed like me). So I can keep the Castrol in longer, bleed out the dirty fluid and continue to add more before a full brake flush at the end of my 6 month season.

Great thing, like Jason said, this car is so freaking capable out of the box. Y’all making me want to buy another ?
