It seems based on the consensus here on the forum that if I am willing (which I am) to go for new wheels the best route is RE7s than the way more expensive and harder Cup2s. And that if I want to keep my current wheels Cup2s is the better option.
If you’re trying to get the most weekends out of them, then I’d go Bryan’s route, tire picks and square up. I personally like the grip and longevity of the Maxxis Victra RC-1s on a square setup. Would all out competition slicks be better. Oh hell YUS. But they’re also inversely proportional to the amount of pocket change 💸 I’d have left over.

Definitely loving the V730
RE71RS.

V730's now that they are available in 295 could also work for you.

Definitely loving the V730s on squared 295/35. I’m sure at this point I would not be able to extract the 1 extra second the RE7s can provide, and the price can’t be beat.

wheels wise I am kind of running out of different options and is going to have to be APEX SM10RS 18x10 ET30.

if you guys have any suggestions on 18 inch square fitment with OEM suspension (adjustable springs) let me know!

Then run the v730 in 275/35/18. Cheaper too.

RE71RS.

V730's now that they are available in 295 could also work for you. Not as fast as RE71RS, but take heat better through a longer session. Also a screaming deal at $250/tire.

Cup2's are crazy expensive and not better in any way. Just don't.

I did this comparison video awhile back. Not scientific at all but at least gives you a ballpark.

it's the opposite here for pricing. The bridgestones are crazy expensive compared to cup 2s. Which ever is the cheapest of the two is best bet as i found them to be similar in performance.

Anyone tracked on 0w20? I'm thinking of doing a light little track day before winter comes, ambient temp is like 5-10 degrees right now. Car is at like 800 miles lol don't feel like putting in the 5w40 yet. Won't be going balls out, it's fully stock pads and fluid too, just wanted to hoon it a bit before storing.

Oil questions deserve their own threads, btw.

I would not recommend it. The thinner oil is used in these cars strictly for cold start and emissions. You are better off with a 5w40.

I also suggest changing just before with fresh oil and straight after a track day.

Oh man, bolded all the trigger words for @concept the Boomer Blob.

I can feel the triggering from here... Get ready for a Youtube video he will make cherry picking other peoples content and making it his own. THE BOOMER BLOB!

Also ignore anyone saying changing oil after a single track day is needed. This has been proven wrong with actual oil testing. This isn't 1984 anymore.

Another useless post. I wish this guy would just stick to his tinkering informative posts instead of puffing his chest all the time. Not everyone is knowledgeable and certainly not everyone is good at search indexing considering all the tripe from this guy I have had to skim over in this forum in between his good information posts when searching myself.

0w20 oil viscosity is not going to hold up to repeated hot lap runs. A good quality 5w40 like MOtul 300v has more shear resistance which will assist with looking after your rotating parts. You would need to change this oil more often though if you daily it.

You would want to try and keep your oil temp down below 120-130C if possible, so depending on ambient temperature this could mean only a couple of hot laps before cool down. You can go to diagnostic mode and unlock to get access to coolant and oil temp.

As suggested, change before and after.

I had my oil tested after 3 track days and it was perfectly fine FWIW.

I run Redline 0W-40 which is safe (although certainly not ideal) up to 300F.

Sure it can be fine. BUt not everyone runs a good quality oil so appeal to the lowest denominator.

If i ran a 300km race. I would change it. 15 laps, I would change it.

You can never over service a car and the oils performance whilst being in spec after repeated thrashings, ....is never as good as fresh uncontaminated oil.
