IMO many makes and models of cars are “classics” but not necessarily in demand. I suspect the Supra name alone will easily place it in the classic category. I also think that, in the future, there will be a lot of people out there desiring classic sports cars with combustion engines - and many will want manual transmissions. As far as an increase in value is concerned, probably not anytime soon. But inflation will keep happening and that alone will add value to a car that is very well maintained and not overly modified / has all of the original parts etc.. I won’t likely live long enough for my car to be a lucrative investment. But if you’re 25 years old and keep your car in pristine condition / low mileage / garaged for 50 years… sure, you’ll make some money.

I think there's a difference between "classic" and "collectable" A Supra manual may never be a future "classic" who knows but it might be more "collectable" than an auto in the future.

100%

It will always be worth more than the Z4 counterpart later on because of this. MT or AT.

The appearance and name provoke 99% of the engagement I get with the car.

The other day I was walking down the street behind a bunch of teenagers and an A90 with a big wang drove by.

1st teenage goes ‘look at thatttt’

2nd ‘shiiiitttt’

3rd ‘far out’

4th ‘it’s a mark v supra’

They all kept on drooling until it disappeared in the horizon.

Jalopnik agrees. Jalopnik

“I think of all the attainable (non luxury and super) performance cars that have appreciated over the past decade and they were all sports cars and sedans from my youth. It makes sense that the kids of the 80's and early 90's who saw cool people driving Supras, RX-7s, NSXs, E30 and E36 3-ers, etc. finally had enough disposable income to buy weekend cars. Our parents lusted after muscle and pony cars because that is what cool, successful people drove back then.
“The same thing will happen with today’s attainable performance which will of course include the GR Yaris and Supra. They are two of only a few cars still available in the USA with a manual and a more direct driving experience. The Yaris is helped by the fact that it has relatively low production numbers. Supras with six-cylinders and manuals will hold their value much better than autos and 4-cylinder models.
“The Integra Type S and Civic Type R will be in that group along with the M2 and manual CT4/5 Blackwings. Just like with today’s cars, manual performance cars will always be worth much more than automatics. Just look at prices for 997.2 manuals versus automatics.”

Too bad the values for these, at least here in Canada, are not reflecting this. New MT's sitting at dealer lots for weeks and weeks, even months, slightly under MSRP

A highschooler in an old crown vic did a U-turn and followed me about a mile to my house. A little much and over the line maybe, but flattering as all hell. He didn't just cruise by either, but parked across the street and walked over to see it up close & ask a few questions.

There IS still hope for the future of car enthusiasts

Yeah I'd be less inclined to enjoy being followed to my house...

But its hilarious, now this group of kids wait at the front of my neighborhood for me to drive back after work ? Just to hear it rev. I really do have hope for the next generation loving proper sports cars.

Neighbor has a new(to him) Virage Volante parked on his driveway, they didn't even look at it.

+1 to supra

Most kids (and people in general I run across) think it's a pretty amazing car. It's really the 40 year old virgins that still drive the rusted out Nissan they bought in highschool who's *feels* are hurt and think talking crap online gives them cred.
