They won't, same as them promising the next Cayman would be all-electric only for 2+ years before caving to the backlash and making an ICE version.

The prototype version's slightly lower hood line, larger rear tires and overall tweaked body lines make it look better than the concept car version IMO. It looks great.

If they ditch the yoke steering wheel and give it a proper driver oriented interior it'll be closer to the mark inside as well as out.

Since we're already getting the GR GT/GT3 I'm interested to see what they can do with their so far hand made solid state battery packs. I could care less about some bonkers short 0-60 time. I want to see how they program the whole system, what the pack weight, size, placement (not under the floor pans hopefully) and power density will be, how it behaves when driven hard continuously on the street and track, and how long it actually lasts under regular aggressive driving.

And it would be great if they give this model a two-speed transmission the same as Porsche does for their Taycan.

And especially as to how it compares to the overheating issues present in Lithium-ion technology and instances of thermal runaway from dendrites forming between the anode and cathode.

Toyota were originally supposed to have debuted this technology in 2025. A couple more years to get it right on launch isn't a bad thing. Last news I read about its challenges the biggest issue was how to reliably manufacture packs/cells in a larger volume semi-automated or fully automated process rather than totally by hand.

Nissan has had their own solid state battery release target at 2028 for a while now but it's unclear if their timeframe has been pushed since Ivan Espinosa became the new CEO.
