Hey peeps, what solutions have you used, or seen done to transport wheels to/from track without a support vehicle? I know two can fit inside, but I need four. Has anyone done a rack with SeaSuckers, etc?

@Suggs.OR you seem to use your suction cups the most out of anyone I’ve seen but I know you use a roof box.

I'm interested in this too. I was debating making my own trailer hitch that would hide behind the third brake light.

Oh yea. The same suction cup set up would work with I assume most basket racks. I just did a 5500 mile road trip with them and were very reliable.

I can vouch for the SeaSucker as well. I use it every weekend to transport my mountain bikes and those suction cups are solid. I can't imagine them having any issue carrying 4 wheels on a basket rack.

Wheels are heavier than 10 bikes... i'd be scared of caving the roof in little by little. Even wind drag will push the wheels down a tad harder into the roof.

Not good wheels, or shitty bikes.

I'm no expert on this but the seasucker roof bars have 6 suction cups so the weight of the wheels would be spread out pretty well I'd imagine. Plus they should be mounted closer to the edges of the roof panels where its much stronger.

The roof (a-pillar) is designed to support the weight of the car if it landed up side down (or down side up in Australia? :hmm: ) so my guess is that it can support the weight of the wheels and tires (120lbs.) and wind drag..?

:dunno:

Without denting the hollow parts? That's my concern. Either drag pushes the wheels down into the roof panels or vice versa, pulling up on the suctions to the point where now there's high spots where the suctions were. I know the roof is made to support the cars weight in an event of roll over, but that's the inner structure, the skin itself is relatively flimsy.

120lbs? Yea right, we wish.

Try 200lbs+. That would be about 7 bikes worth on top (if the bikes are 30lbs each)

Approx 20lbs for a good track wheel in 18x10.5 and 30lbs or so for the tire. My current setup is around 206lbs for all four wheels/tires.

I think the seasucker is only rated for about 150lbs.

No way would I put 200lbs of wheels/tires on a suction cup rack. Under hard braking or getting hit from the rear, that combo would quickly turn into some Final Destination content.
