What did you do to your Supra today?

Took her to the track and yesterday I compiled video of the second session of the day.

new to me the MCS coilovers + TW100 tires on a square set up.

car feels incredible. Both the suspension and the tires transform the car.

I’m feeling more confident sending the car faster in sections where at the beginning I was braking, then lifting, now I can take a couple of this track extended straights with a little bend on the gas’s all the way.

my plan is to sit with a pro driver on then next session and correct mistakes. But overall, for someone who 1.5 yrs ago has never driven in a track, I think I have improved a bit.

my best lap on this session also saw a 4sec improvement over my previous laps on OEM suspension and street tires.

I realized the car cuts the engine power when the VSC senses slip, and the dash light goes on, so it’s a little frustrating to not have all the power at hand for a few secs coming onto the straights.

the following day I would take out the Nannie’s completely and try the car like that. (Will post the video of my semi spinning all over the place) It’s a bit unsettling to feel the rotation of the car, but I think I can understand better this car than a year ago and maybe anticipate what she’s doing.

I feel the happiest when I’m scared while my ass is feeling the car rotate in ways a street driver is not used to.

next stop will be in Sebring in May, I will spend some time in the sim the next two months.

here’s the video I put together from that session, car starts rolling at min 3, my fastest lap starts at min 8 or so.

Don’t judge too harshly, I’ve driven Tesla cars for 10yrs before getting this car. .
I KNOW there is room for improvement.

Isn't it crazy what some sticky tires and a good suspension can do to a car?? I've been coaching for years. From entry level, first timers to the time attack guys looking for tenths. So if you really want to chat about things just message me. Side note, I love your custom paint job on your helmet. One day I'll do that!

Meh.. I searched online all over the place on how to do a coolant drain and fill on my 2020. I don't have a vacuum fill device and don't feel like getting showered by coolant..twice. but I also don't feel like taking my car to the dealer just for this. Can the Supra survive gravity fill?

Not sure if there's a good way to drain the coolant other than disconnect the bottom hose from the radiator. I haven't personally messed with the cooling system before.

Be warned, car will rev to 3.5k rpm during the process, might be worth getting an exhaust silencer, or just going to harbor freight and getting the vacuum bleed device

edit: Also worth noting the bleed procedure may be different for the low temp circuit. not sure off the top of my head. I'm sure there's instructions in that thread.

Changed my at 39,500km

1) ZF8 Transmission oil (Motul ATF)
2) Rear Diff oil (SAE 75W90)
3) Brake Oil (motul 5.1), Full flush
4) Cabin Filter
5) intake filter
6) Spark plugs

was a long time due since i bought the car at 38,000km and only changed the oil then, didnt know if the owner changed before, looking at the oil i doubt it.

They are recommending 30,000 km before changing the rear diff and transmission oil again, and 40,000 km before changing the brake oil again.

seems a little bit short? but meh, its cheap.

Kind of excited to be ready for my first track day ever in april.

Oil coolers work man. Will absolutely help with oil/coolant temps. My coolant temps at the track today were almost too low (ambient was about 70)

The oil cooler yes. The other one isn't a cooler it's an air oil separator

I've posted on some of the work done to both the car and the diffuser itself to optimally run this thing but it's finally done.

I ended up not running the frame I had CNC'd to mount the diffuser. It made the setup way too heavy and my mounting points didn't allow enough adjustability. So after some consultation, I reinforced the center-top of the diffuser with really high tensile strength carbon fiber flat bars and the leading and trailing edge with aluminum angle bars. With everything weighed together, it came out to be 7.2 lbs. Overall, the process was a bit of a pain, but I'm glad it's done. Hopefully shakedown soon

It is indeed only for those. Of course, some Supras do have B48's.

It was announced a few months back, dealers seem to finally have replacement parts now and can do the work. Theoretically you park outside until then. I think they replace the starter itself. What a PITA to do to a huge number of cars out there.

Close friend of mine is a master tech at Toyota and said he's done the starter recall on a 2022 3.0 Supra which surprised me. I told him it was just the B48 and he said nope. But it was 2022 and earlier. Odd. Worth a call or check on your VIN maybe.
