Big Daddies Garage mini cat installed: I throw 2 codes regularly.
Sorry to hear man! Knock on wood, I'm code free. But still very little miles on mine. I've got a MAD catless downpipe if that makes a difference ?‍♂ and haven't beat her up yet on track... I did do some Jessie pulls for my JB4 logs and still good.

? Maybe I'm mistaken but... what about using TWO O2 defoulers/extenders and stacking them? I've seen this done on other platforms before.

Double the restriction and filtering to not trip the overly sensitive BMW O2 sensor - and maybe more longevity so that it doesn't burn through all the material as quickly? And male/female threads and connections should be identical and easy to stack?

Or maybe all the fumes have gotten to my head and I'm not thinking straight. ?

You will get a CEL. It'll be for a lean condition, IIRC. The car has to detect the exhaust, just not too much. Otherwise we would all zip tie the O2 sensor to the bottom of the car ?

Took the Big Daddies O2 spacer off some time ago.
The special "mini-cat" melted, in less than ~1000 miles.
Was still on stock tune when I had it on.
Forgot to post lol.

Recently tuned on BM3, so CEL is gone.

Edit: YMMV ofc
If it matters: Stock tune was S18T-22-03-535 (March 2022).
Also have Versus 6-port turbo shield installed.
Could've died from extra heat. :dunno:

Not surprised. I could see no way that thing was going to last. I guess you could just drop 50 bucks every few months or so...?

I'm not sure if it melted right away lol.
But the CEL did stay off for a little while.
Unsure if its from clearing the codes after install.

I knew it was going to be a temporary solution until I could get tuned.
Bought it for $15 from another forum member.

After a few weeks, I found out local tuner was doing a sale on bench unlocks and BM3 licenses.
Discovered my ECU was tunable, went that route and havent looked back.

Edit: In the pic, the material melted towards the O2 sensor.
Can potentially damage the sensor.

Yeah.. I'm not a fan of a "mini-cat" for that reason haha. I live in CA so will, eventually, clone an ECU so I can ditch the cat in between smog checks. I won't be modding the engine, but it will be worth it to keep the heat down during track days. I just have to hope I don't get hung up on ECU/car mileage not matching, come smog time.

Heh, the mini-cat in my case was disproven.
YMMV for everyone else.

I thought a clone is an identical copy of original?

It should be, but I'm told our cars store mileage in more than one place. If true, the mileage on the ECU won't match the mileage on the car. I can't imagine they would fail me for that, but it might cause the smog tech to pause knowing them. All the smog text in my town are paranoid as f***.

Mine finally failed too ? ?.. It was worth the try. The car was new, wasn’t sure of the wife’s initial perception, and it was a cheap try. I personally don’t mind the light and found out she could care less, whew ?. Also, we don’t have smog tech checks here (yet)….

I can't stand seeing CELs. It makes me think of all the Hondas running around my town that are driving with CELs and held together with duct tape LOL. Also, I don't want to have something be wrong with the car and I not know until I think to re-check the codes. I put my OEM DP back on. Yeah.. It's more heat on the car, but at least I'll know if something goes wrong :(
Bummer, because it sounded better with the DP.

Why not run a GESI catted downpipe?
