When I first read about the master brake cylinder brace for my A90, I thought "that is stupid."

A few years later I found myself buying one. Last week in fact.

It started out innocuous enough at first. I thought "what is that mild rattle/clunk heard at low speeds coming from the front left?" Was it the steering column, the brakes?

At second thought, I thought it was a bad shock strut bearing, as I have read that those can sometimes go out.
But after a few weeks, I noticed that it was only at low speed, and it was coordinated with letting off of the brakes, or depressing them, the sound was inconsistent. So I had the brake fluid replaced as I crossed the 30k mark not long ago. Long story short, that didn't solve the issue.

So after some time, I came across the problems that the master brake cylinder mounted to the firewall can have in the A90/bimmer.

So I bought one of the TorqueSolution ones from MAP. So far so good...🤞

EDIT: Reporting back after two days of testing, and about 60 or so miles and an oil change. Still doing good. Problem seems fixed for now. 👍

So the brace fixed the rattle from the master cylinder? I thought it was more for the flexing forward when you push on the brakes extra hard.

Thanks for your post. I am giving this a try too.

My 2022 started getting a weird clunk on braking. I chalked it up to pad movement as I recently went to ceramics. Maddening to some degree, but we live with it if we know what it is.

BUT your post. Verus and Torque Solutions make a brace for around $115-$130. I was watching the Verus video on that master cylinder. The darn thing deflects 85% on their meter. (In video :36 mark). You can see it physically move.

So bought one. At worst I get better brake pedal performance, at best the clunk goes away!

Will give this a whack too. Have the low speed pop/clunk as well, noticed almost immediately after installing springs and front sway. Mine sounds like front passenger, but cannot tell for certain as my hearing is compromised (concerts/gunfire/concussive blasts/etc). Went as far as having two techs take the car out twice with a chassis microphone kit and even they couldn’t nail it down. They were more frustrated than I was 😂

Well the brace is going to do "something" I guess but if you view the movement at the beginning it looks a more rotational movement and the brace only works in the fore and aft plane. No pedal pressure V movement data though.

Stop talking about things you know nothing about. The brace makes a noticeable difference. Listen to the people that actually have one instead of talking out your ass with no experience.

I've lost count of how many times you makes some dumb ass no connection to actual experience statement and myself and others have then proven you wrong with actual facts.

Do I need to bring back up the rotor thickness thread? Also, please spare us with the "I posted that to trigger you hahhahaha" BS you always do when you get called out on your stupid shit.

You also still haven't proven you actually own a Supra.

Did it solve the low speed rattle/pop/clunking reported in this thread on your car?

The sound was hard to place, because it wasn't happening from a cold start, and would take a bit of stop and go driving for it to start back up again. All I can figure is that the metal became more malleable after some time and heat from the engine which started to flex the firewall when the brake booster was engaged.

So just got this today from MAP. About $125 with tax and shipping to Norcal.
Install was pretty easy, maybe 30 minutes tops. But you WILL need a U-clip lever tool and torx socket... and I think a 13mm and 17mm wrench for the adjuster.

Did it cure my rattle/clunk? No. I still hear a slight clunk coming to stop and start again. So thinking it's brake pad movement as that is the only change up front.

BUT, does this crazy thing work for pedal travel?

UH YES. As soon as I got in the car, the pedal was A LOT more positive.
That crazy firewall flex does translate to something genuine.

So I guess thats a NO to what this thread was specifically talking about.

This clunk, is it a feeling or a sound? I had something under my seat that made a sound when it rolled forward. Tested/checked everything and just gave it to my mechanic friend to tell me it was a bottle under the seat.
