Reading the last couple pages of this thread: Is there any general guidance on whether the car's transmission should be in Sport or Sport+ when using this product? It seems like people are doing both, and from what I can tell, could be the reason some are having different experiences. That's an assumption, just something I noticed.

ive used both with it, but i dont really use Sport+, I sent a log to Payn he saw that and asked me if i was on sport+ and told me not to use it. So i havent really used it at all since. but on V1.0 sport+ freaking rips with everything off lol.

Wait, you said you sent a log to payn and he said not to use it, then you said "but on V1.0 Sport+ freaking rips with everything off". Were you using it and then decided not to? If so, how does it compare with it off?

When payn was tuning my car I sent a log that I did right after I coded sport+, he knew something was up and asked me. Told me not to run it in sport + something about it never intended for the Supra or whatever. I don't really run his tune as the Visconti tune that was on the car when I get it is significantly stronger and faster. like more than 3/4 second 60-130 times and over .5 sec and 6mph faster in the 1/4 so unless I'm running 91 pump gas when traveling I use the Visconti flex tune that was on the car. And I have sport+ coded I just don't run it that often. Especially on Payn's tune since he asked me not to.

Oh and I think the only real difference is the throttle mapping, even in regular sport mode with everything off it still rips hard, just sport+ with everything so touchy I guess it just adds to the feeling. I honestly don't know if sport+ and spot make a difference in any other way acceleration wise.

Just to be clear, was he referring to the transmission or the engine set to Sport+, or both? I would think the transmission setting applies to this situation (and what I was referring to in my post), but you mention throttle mapping, which would more likely apply to the engine setting.

What's weird is my car has Sport + coded in, but my tuner never said anything about it... i'm wondering why Payn doesn't recommend it.. or why my tuner hasn't said anything... ?

Is everyone on stage 3 using at least -15% on the 3->2 downshift?

I run V1.0 at -17%... on V1.1 seems like its fine on my car. but i stick with V1.0 since traction and all all off seems to revert it back to stock mapping.

I dont know, The way i understood it when speaking to Malen at speed industy is the car was never suppose to have Sport+ so the calibration/oem tune or the calibration they use doesnt have the proper mapping for it???? I dont know, when i run my Payn tune i dont use sport+, when i run the Visconti tune i do sometimes, but not often. Some times when im out having fun i like the throttle mapping better on Sport+. Regular daily driving it stays/starts in Sport with steering and suspension in normal trans and engine in sport.

The car wasn't designed for Sport+, it's a remnant from BMW B58s. Just like Comfort+ or Eco mode or whatever it's called. It'll likely work, but when doing things like adjusting timing in the calibration or godevenknowswhat with the trans tuning, it's going to be using calibration maps that aren't familiar to the tuners. If you're tuned, I'd avoid Sport+ like the plague. Could have some unintended consequences.

Why not just log with and without to see what's really happening? I've 'heard' that all + does is re-map the throttle curve to give the illusion of a snappier response.

I'll dig up the logs I have from last summer when I was messing with it. The timing curve is definitely different. Edit: Or at least, the only thing that changed between passes was Sport vs Sport+ engine setting.

Idk, during my whole tuning phase for E50 on my car, i would figure that my tuner would've caught the signs of sport + on the logs, but he wasn't fazed by it...

I honestly don’t understand why people mess with Sport+ when tuned. Its like if their tune isn’t good enough for some reason.
