I wonder if anyone can answer some questions. I normally drive the transmission in normal and when I want to have a little fun I put it in manual. I've always thought the shift points in normal were too low.

I drove in sport today. The shift points are definitely a little high for daily commute.

I know the shift points can be adjusted. But I've always felt like there should be a mode between Normal and Sport. How configurable can you make it? Can you tone it all the way down to Normal and then all the way and above Sport for all the other settings(outside of shift points)?

If you like lower shift points you can customize this with xhp. They have shift point adjustments and have presets for this. I use a “relaxed” shift points when in normal mode meaning it upshifts earlier and downshifts later. I have considered applying this to sport more as well, but I drive like a loser so…

Anyone know when we can expect an update to fix some of the issues people are experiencing? I know the drag racing guys are the most impacted. The kickdown issue is what seems to be most impactful to the masses.

A few of us put in kickdown blockers. https://burgertuning.com/products/bms-downshift-blocker

They required some 'modifications' (we hacked them to shit with a Sawzall).

I have a thread going with XHP support and they're 'looking into' the 2nd gear issue that we've been having up here.

The ol' "looking into it." Thanks for reporting it and working through some of the issues with them. At least they're aware there are problems. Given the limited number of people that are using this compared to their BMW crowd, I had the feeling this was one of those things where people complained about it but it was never reported (i.e., exactly what I have done). I'll reach out just to add to the number of reports.

So I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the tune. Mostly wanting it for drag racing. Group I run with is all street tires etc. I launch from staging in 2nd gear. Is this going to be an issue? Is this worth purchasing right now or should I wait?

NOTICE: My use case for the Supra is strictly street and roll racing.

I flashed XHP Stage 3 and everything feels great. Shifting is noticeably faster. I have enabled the following options:

  • Version 1.1 Flash: Reducing 3->2 downshift no longer required
  • Max RPM: 6800 in sport, 6500 in normal
  • Shiftmap: Sportive+ for car Sport mode, Relaxed for car Normal mode
  • M-Mode Blips: Going to experiment with +10% on all gears
  • Auto Start-Stop: DISABLED (this never worked for me in Bimmercode, IDK why)
  • Sport Mode in Cruise: DISABLED (it's nice to have 8th gear in cruise control, even in Sport)
  • Torque Limits: Experimenting with Sticky Tire preset, as I can still break traction on 200TW 305s

I enjoy start in 2nd, but unsure what stress this places on the transmission. I don't like the Supra's first gear, though.

I have no intention of trying drag mode, custom launch control, coasting mode, or line pressure bump. I also have no intention of raising max RPM unless someone gives me a really good reason to do so.

Nice! Interested to hear your experience regarding jacking up m-blips. I've been meaning to test this out but haven't had a chance. May do this myself when I get my car back from the shop today.

Which type comes close to fitting the supra? A-d and can you upload pics of it? This will come in handy for rolls without activating the kickdown

I uninstalled XHP as I've got some warranty work coming up. Kinda missed how smooth the shifts are stock tune.

Sure it's not as quick to shift but man stage 3 is lurching me around for months this is a nice change.

Stage 2 XHP is even smoother than stock in my experience, while also being faster.

Saw others recommend this might go this direction. Maybe I am finally getting old.

Anyone try this on a road course yet? Sport/Auto is surprisingly good as-is but shifts do get progressively more slushy toward the back half of the session; ostensibly from heat. The factory shift schedules work very well with only a few clunky up/down shift moments but would appreciate crisper gear changes.

FWIW, the ZF8 is great as far as torque converter autos go, but after living with a DCT it's a stark contrast.
