It really is nice to have a car you dont see on the streets every 30 seconds.

I seldom see a Supra were I live but people seem to know what it is even though it is rare.
My other summer car on the other hand almost no one knows what it is so I have been answering the same questions for 22 years in car parks, gas stations etc.
But that is to be expected since there is only 41 ever made.
Now when people are asking about the Supra I am at least use to it.:)
I mean, you're not going to tell us what your other car is? Ha

Is there a Supra wave, like Jeep wave?
...
With so little of us, maybe we can start something up? Secret handshake :drive: lol
I'm back in my WRX for the winter and I have to subie wave four or five times every time I do a 35 mile commute. Right after I got my Supra, I think I confused some subie folks when I automatically waved to them.
If I ever saw another Supra I'd wave, but I'm pretty sure there's only one other Supra anywhere near me.
How can you not recognize someone else with such good taste in vehicles

I came from the 911 world, and this was a big reason I chose the Supra. The Corvette is a great car but I see and average of 8 or so everyday, a couple 911's a Cayman or 3, an absolutely huge number of Subies, Chargers and 86's but very few Supra's. I like that, noting against any of those other cars, but I like having a unique car. Heck there were more McLarens at Cars and Coffee then Supra's this weekend!

I have seen maybe 2 in the last year since it went on sale. The car is by no means cheap and it certainly not on the average person's shopping list so it kinda makes sense that we don't see them on the road much at least for now.

But it also makes me wonder how many of those out there that would have considered the Supra if a traditional manual was offered....I know I am defiNitely one of them. I wonder what the first year sales is like on these cars, that will probably shed some light on why we don't see them on the road more often.

Came back today to my car after lunch to find a guy walking around it and his GF walking the dog.

"Nice car mate" was the comment by the young male stranger. "Thanks bro" was the reply.

Certainly am getting much more attention from this car than any previous cars. Also, since purchase have not seen another one on the road so rare.

Listed under my cars. Indigo 3000, built in Sweden in the mid 1990 using mainly Volvo components.
M90 gearbox, 3-liter straight inline six from the 960-series.

Had to look that one up and I am a car nut. Very cool
post some pics!

Tight group of 4-6 Supra owners in my little burg. My other weekend car isn't rare like the above Indigo, but i see less than even Supras. e46 M3. I know they are not rare rare, but really none in my town. See less verts like mine (everyone like the hardtops better) And in my life even less verts with a factory hardtop like i have too.

But to the point of the thread. Low numbers were definitely one of the reasons that drew me away from BMWs. you can't go 100 yards on any road with out seeing a Mustang, Corvette, Camaro. Worse the only way they can differentiate themselves is to make the exhaust as loud as possible it seems.

Yesterday I was picking up a prescription at the pharmacy drive-through and the pharmacist asked, "What kind of car is that? I don't think I've seen one like it before." He then (mike still on) turned and said "Hey XXX, come check out the new Supra" and another employee came up to the window and gave a thumbs-up. Never once had a reaction like that in my old M3 or C63.

Apparently the only other red Supra in my area is owned by someone who also looks identical to me, I've been mistaken for him the few occasions I drive my car.

In my area i've seen a few Supra's. A yellow one on my way to work pre-covid and a few months ago i saw a red and a tungsten cross each other on the street. Since then and since getting mine, i havnt seen a single one.

I really like having such a rare car. As much as i liked my BRZ, you also saw one every other car.

Absolutely !
I got mine July 23/19 and I'm still getting thumbs up,rubber neckers driving by, and photo requests
at the gas station.
One time after my round of golf 6 guys were standing there taking pics and admiring it.
That's the main thing they said " You just don't see any new supras "
I have only seen one other (white) and i have driven across most of southern Ontario.
I got mine on the same day and I have yet to see another one on the road

I live downtown in the heart of the 3rd largest city in the nation. The Supra is indeed very rare in the Chicago area. I'd say rarer then some exotics. Since the Supra's release I have yet to see a single Supra in the wild on the street. The very first one I saw in person, outside of an auto show, was at a Wisconsin dealership back in Aug 2020. The first one I saw in the Chicago area was the one I test drove back in Oct 2020. I drove a few more in Oct. Other than at a couple of dealers I have not seen a single one since then.

Bought mine day before Thanksgiving, I've only seen one other in my area. I was looking at getting a Dodge Challenger widebody before I pulled the trigger on the Supra.
Challengers are over played down here in Texas. Everyone has one, mostly V6 models. Not seeing a Supra on the road helped make the decision easier.
