For those who regularly track the Supra, I’m curious; what mods/upgrades have you have done that’s had the most significant impact on lap times and performance? Driver mod and wheels/tires excluded (those are obvious).

For me it would be CFG C21/CE1 brake pads. They are truly amazing with feel, consistency, and bite. Much more confidence going into corners, and I haven’t found their limit yet.

I haven’t done much else, just SPL front lower control arms, HKS adjustable lowering springs, and an aftermarket steering wheel (zero effect on performance lol).

Looking to do the following for the tracking season next year:

- Eibach front sway bar
- SPL adjustable caster bushings
- SPL front sway bar end links
- Sparco Evo QRT bucket seat
- Fuel surge tank because I’m getting constant fuel starvation. Annoying.

I would suggest aFe Control front sway bar versus Eibach. Especially since you have SPL front lower control arms. The aFe billet bushing brackets are slotted and allow the bar to be shifted forward enough to clear the SPL control arms. As far as I know, some have reported Eibach sway bars contact the SPL lower control arms. FYI, I have SPL lower control arms and the aFe front sway bar, so this is from first hand experience.

My first time on the track with the Supra was with full SPL/AfE Sways/HKS Springs + 57cr wheels.
I had an idea on what the car drove like bone stock (did a ride along with someone who had a stock car). The upgraded suspension made the car feel a lot quicker (like 1-2 seconds on a 90 second track). Car was more planted and not as roll happy.

Next time on the track I went power crazy. Pure700/Intake/Catted DP/Wing/Brake Fluid. I ran into the limits of the stock brake pads real quick and ended up having the slide around corners a bit just to be able to control the speed I was going around the track. I was maybe 1-1.5 seconds quicker than stock power but brake fade took any advantage out.

I have a set of CP pads to see if they are up to keeping up with the extra power. Otherwise, I might have to go big brake and better rubber.

I became a better driver.
That’s what I meant by no driver mod lol.

I highly recommend the CFG brake pads if you’re in the market for the best track brake pad for the Supra.

Thanks for the info regarding the sway bar. I’m still going to stick with the Eibach. The SPL adjustable end links and caster bushings will stop the sway bar from rubbing my control arms.

Adding more positive caster via caster bushings in the tension rod will actually angle the LCA's closer to the sway bar ends making the clearance worse.

Right, thanks. Should’ve said just the end links to help. The caster bushing will help me make both sides even and remove any of the rubber slop and have a more direct feel. Right now one side is +9.5 caster and the other is +8.5.

Did you get both front and rear aFe sways?

Yes, I have both front & rear sway bars.

Yes, totally agree on the spherical bearings for the tension rod. More direct feel for turning and braking. ?

You have the bearings as well?

Also how was the rear sway bar install? Difficult?

I don't have the bearings on the Supra, but I've put them in a M235i and it made quite a difference. They are on my list of items to purchase.

Rear bar is not difficult per se, but there are a lot of steps and you need the proper tools, patience, and be mechanically inclined.

Tires and wheels will give you the best bang for buck.

Not this car, but I threw a set of Koni coilovers on a '96 Miata I tracked/autocrossed and it was insta-time.

Are running all that on the track with stock rubber?

Lol, right. Tires, whees, and seat time are all obvious for improving lap times hence why I wanted to exclude them.

Cool thanks. I’ve thought about coilovers but I’d have to do a lot more research to see how much time they’d actually save around a lap for the money they cost.

Do you track the Supra?

I do, but nothing competitive - just club track days. I love driving this car. It's fun as hell. But I'm not sure I could drive it competitively. It's faster than I am, honestly. I'm old. I have a kid (with another on the way now!). I'm not at a point where I'm able to mount a competitive campaign. I thought about it, and had I decided to take a run at it, I probably would have bought a couple year old Mustang GT PP2. To me it's like the difference between a razorblade and a butter knife.
