They are absolute hell in non-Sport mode. They are enjoyable in sport mode! I intend to change the bushings down to the softest option for daily driving, hoping I can bring the non-Sport NVH down to a more reasonable level -- like, a level that doesn't rattle my fillings out. I like the mounts, but they do 100% ruin daily driving non-Sport mode. Good thing I enjoy sport mode. :p

RACE CAR SHIT ??

Stop making me want to buy the Verus mounts. My to-do list is already huge.
This did not age well lol

I'm glad you tested this out for me though lol. Interested in your feedback on the softer options ?

I want to be clear:

Everyone has their own level of sensitivity to NVH. I'm on the middle hardness bushing provided by Verus, and the NVH between 1300-1800 RPM is pretty gnarly in the cabin. The mirror vibrates so much it's useless, you can't really hear passengers. Every plastic body panel rattles. But the car only uses this RPM band if you're tooling around in Comfort mode. So it's fair to say that the mounts are terrible for people who like to DD in comfort mode.

But if you put the car in Sport mode, it's a different ballgame. The ECM keeps the RPMs higher, and the vehicle doesn't go into the RPM range where the NVH is the worst. It's very different in sport mode. You hear and feel everything the engine is doing, but the cabin NVH isn't tooooo different than running an upgraded transmission mount by itself. You get some low RPM rumble, some satisfying vibration as you step on the throttle. It's pretty visceral, and I enjoy it in sport mode!

But I do like to tool around in Comfort mode if I'm just running errands (Supra is my daily). So I'm only backing down to the softer settings to make that mode more sedate.

As a final thought, I believe the VTT inserts might be a nice middle ground for people who want a better engine feel and less slop without so much risk of NVH that some people would find unpleasant.

Just a thought, obviously motor mounts are the way to go but seems like the install is a PITA, has anyone given any thought to trying an Engine Torque Damper? I know they were more of a thing on like s2000s but considering it should be a 15 min install compared to the mounts I feel like any difference would be worth the time.

Thoughts?

For a track only car, the medium hardness bushings with the Verus mounts feel comfortable.

Not any noticeable increase NVH compared to before. In fairness, my car is loud and I’m not sure how noticeable any difference would be, but cruising through the paddock etc I didn’t notice any difference at all.

Pretty confident the engine lugs around a bit less with them installed. Install was straight forward for my tech. I believe I was charged for 2 or 3 hours labor and didn’t hear have any complaints.

I have the doteki mounts and wanted to share a quick review. I went with the softer version but i can say it completely eliminated any engine rocking or movement. NVH is definitely a thing with typical shaky rearview, vibration in steering wheel, and drivetrain noise. That said, it improves the connectedness with the car enough that it doesn’t matter to me. Rich at Doteki is great and really passionate about the products he brings to the platform. I had a great opportunity to take photos of them installed this past week with the turbo out but i failed to take any.
Great product. Much recommend.

Has anyone tried out the 70A mount inserts from Verus? I want to pick something and the feedback here is all screaming "NVH gonna hide yo kids hide yo wife"

80A is fine. I don’t notice any NVH from them.

70A is softer than 80A so… ?‍♂

I would love a torque damper I had one on my 06 civic si! Easier install and will technically function similarly to motor mounts.

I just got the 70A installed and the NVH is horrible around 1500rpm as discussed by others. I did them along with the Torque Solutions trans mounts, which I've now removed too in hopes that it fixed the bad cruising NVH (spoiler: it didn't...).

The added feeling is good, but honestly I thought the trans mounts added more. With just the motor mounts you definitely get extra rumble, but it's pretty mid and the sound is kinda muted. IMO not worth it with the NVH tradeoff during D driving. The trans mounts add a very pleasant rumble that you can feel through the whole car, including your seat - I loved it.

The NVH above 2000rpm is perfectly fine for daily driving, it's just the 1000-2000rpm (which you get when driving in D mode) that kills it for me. It's this deep unpleasant harmonic that shakes the whole car, as though everything is vibrating at a different frequency and it's clashing.

My intent with stiffening up the mounting was twofold - extra feeling for a more fun drive, and stiffening up the drivetrain to reduce wheel hop. I drove an ND Miata for 2 years and was missing some of that nice vibration as you send it through the RPM range. The motor + trans mount setup definitely achieved that, but the bad NVH during cruising was too much of a dealbreaker, i had to drive at >2000rpm everywhere.

I intend to go with a more chill solution - poly motor mount inserts along with poly trans mounts (both from Powerflex). I loved how the trans mounts felt but I don't want to run an overly rigid trans with a mushy engine for fear of something breaking. These are going to take 3-4 weeks to arrive so I'll post a better comparison when that comes.

I did the torque solutions mount inserts for the OEM mounts and am plenty happy. No additional NVH noticed and throttle feels much more connected.
