Any LL01 or LL04 is better than stock LL17 stuff.

Opinions are like assholes, but any 0W40 with BMW LL-01 spec is mine.
If this turns into another oil discussion thread I am going to light everyones hair on fire.
Lol I'm just new to the b58 gen 2 and curious see what people use with higher whp thats all I see way to much all over the place disscutions.

I have used 5w40 since 1200 miles. Now at 14,000 miles and 40+ track events. This year, 20 events, on E40, have been at either 450 or 510whp, depending on the map I use. I have been doing oil reports since the beginning and they continue to come back fine.

5w40 works for me. Heavily tracked. Not daily driven.

Who do you use to test your oil?

I plan on testing the oil every change when I get mine. Would also love to test the Miata oil and see how she's doing at 130k miles lol.

For maximum protection HTST viscosity is what’s important when selecting an oil for strenuous use. Even with LL01 spec not all 5w-40 oils are equal.

Attached below liquimoly vs motul 300V, there are non racing brands that are comparable to motul spec without the price tag.
