Interesting.... What unit are you going with? I am guessing people are already trying to sell others on Motec? It is currently being developed in Australia and will take some time. The problem is the Flexray in the car. All aftermarket ECUs except the factory BOSCH motorsport stuff cannot compute fast enough for this Flexray. We have been working with people in the industry to create a Receiver and transmitter. You are talking about a long way off. Unless you are rewiring the entire car for Standalone and not caring about the factory electronics?

I am at the point mentally where I would be happy to rip all the nannies out and do a stand alone.... Not sure it would make me any faster and $$

I am laughing WITH you.... but: "last time i have to go in" on a track car is.... wishful thinking

Does anyone have any strong opinions between ECF and V730s? I'll be running (275/35/18) on some Apex 18x10s.

Kinda leaning ECFs but they cost about 50% more. Do they last 50% longer?

I drive up to 300 miles to the track and run 20-30min sessions. So bonus to ECF for road manners and the occasional wet day.

But, I hear the V730s grip much better and still last a pretty long time. But, they can be kinda sketch in the wet? Ive only got experience with RE71RS and PS4s in the wet currently.

I haven't run the 730's but I ran 2 sets of ECF on my C8 and C7Z. They are the best true dual purpose tire, IMO. Wear like iron, predictable, fairly consistent through a 20 min session, work ok in the wet, quiet on the street, etc.. On my C8 I did 8-9 track days and 6000 street miles and they still had plenty of tread but were heat cycled out from optimum. On the C7Z I did 12 days (50-60 heat cycles) and close to 3000 street miles (including ~400 mile roundtrip to VIR) and again, had some tread remaining but they were falling off grip-wise. Both could have easily gone more days and miles but I was itching for something stickier. Biggest con aside from the price is pace-wise they are about on par with fresh PS4S but remain much more consistent whereas PS4S really fall off after the first few laps.

ECF shouldn't really be called a 200TW tire IMHO as they are way in the back as far as pace. They last forever though, seriously. It's basically a modern RS4 tire. Under braking they kind of suck. Good in rain. Honestly I have no idea why they cost so much money.

Also, why do so many people run square setups on this platform?
On other platforms I've generally heard the opposite (a staggered setup for superior handling).

No.
Squared is preferred for a more neutral handling car. It removes a fair amount of understeer that the car has from the factory. It also allows us to manage tread wear a bit better by rotating our tires around all (4) corners. Cost of tires is slightly less (dependant on tire chosen)

Rip, I was hoping to run square 275/35/19 since I don't think V730s are available in 255 or 265/35/19.
Saving a bit of money on tire rotation is always good, though not my primary concern.

Do you know if 265/35/19s will fit on front OEM?
Or 285/35/19s on rear OEM?

The V730's don't run wide at all. At least in the 275/35/18 version

A lot of people run the widest possible tire they can on their car, performance be damned.
They don't care how the car performs or how it even looks, they just want to say they have wider tires.
Stick to the advice given in this section of the forum, you will be golden.

Great size with stock suspension. Camber plates will help those tires angle in under the hood wheel well and give you that negative camber you’re going to want for the track. Many of us are running that size.

If you haven’t already checked this out already. I’m currently on Nankangs, thx to Supra friends recommendations. Great tire. But…. I’ve got more Maxxis tires in route. Want to test them back to back. Love Maxxis tires

Autoquest called me yesterday. SPL upgraded parts installed. They were just telling me about uneven front brake wear (left vs right), said it‘s not uncommon (closest relief emoji I could find). Asked me if they make brake cooling ducts for this car. Then I got an emergency page overhead and I had to hang up. But I did order this:
