225F is fine and in the normal range. 190-210 is like normal daily driving. 260+ is when you should start worrying.

The M5 pan with exposed fins helped cooling a bit on my Supra.

225 is fine, but that was 3 laps in, with the 1st of those laps being an outlap, the 2nd being at 85% and the 3rd being all out. Does that not sound worrying? Or am i overthinking the whole thing?

Also safety aside, i'm thinking about the performance benefits of better heat management there. Hot fluid = reduced hydraulic pressure stability, slower actuator response. So lazy shifts, hesitation, or rough engagement.

This is my first auto car btw, so clearly i still have a lot to learn about all this, and i'm still going by theory at this point, which i know doesn't always translate into the real the world

So my transmission oil temps have been uncomfortably high at the track. I shouldn't even be tracking in this weather, but i really wanted to test the new aero setup.

So i've been thinking about either a transmission cooler or an larger more robust pan. Leaning towards the cooler because it comes down to heat management vs heat capacity. Bigger pan = more fluid, so yes, it slightly slows down how fast temps rise… but it doesn’t actively remove heat. A dedicated DCT cooler actively dissipates heat via airflow, which is great under sustained load conditions at the track.

I'd rather prevent heat soak than delay it.

That's the logic that's guiding my thought process.

Now to choose the cooler itself, i think i'm going to opt for do88.
Depends on how hot you want to push it. I know it’s a fine line when Iā€˜ve tracked her in March, April or October. I don’t even think about the other 5-6 months. The track temps get insane. I did get the upgraded transmission pan that Bryan mentioned & did a thread on. It just made sense over that plastic OEM pan.

I did consider the PPE pan, but what's the logic behind choosing a pan over a cooler? Ideal situation means having both, but doesn't it make more sense to go cooler first if you had to choose one?

The pan was plug and play. Plus I wanted to change the fluid anyway. So I’m biased ?

How much work is involved doing the cooler?

imo pan first. if more cooling is needed then do the cooler. Adding a cooler is adding another fail point + leak point from lines and cooler. pan would be OEM+

Just out of curiosity, do you have any logs from a complete session? Looking in my own logs, trans temp stabilizes after about 10 minutes or so at 200 degF. But if yours is hitting 225 early in the session and still sloping up, then yes I would definitely consider that an issue given your ambient temps in dubai.

I agree with pan first but upgrading the cooler doesn't add failure points because the lines and cooler are already there.

The biggest issue is finding a trans cooler that is actually better than OEM. CSF def ain't.

Should be pretty straightforward. Drop-in replacement

No logs, but i should change that. Ambient was around 106 that day. I won't be tracking in this kind of weather again. Just wanted to do some aero testing. But i should plan/build around ambient temps of around 90-95

do88 > CSF. And for the pan, PPE one seems fine i guess.

Consensus seems to be pan before cooler. It seems like i'm in the wrong here, but i still understand why. Or is the main reason just being able to find a cooler better than OEM?

M5 pan has deep cooling fins.

Cusco front brace is on. The OEM ones were fine, but man do they look awful

Ditched the windshield mount for the Catalyst for a proclip/ram combo setup. Thanks @razorlab. Zero play. Perfect angle.

Got the steering wheel module installed. Traction control and sport mode are now mapped to the 2 extra buttons on the steering wheel hub
