I'm actually planning to buy the LC500 over the MKV. I finally got to see the MKV in person, but it didn't do anything for me. Plus, it doesn't help that the Toyota dealer near me has it listed for $87K. I think it's a cool car, but definitely prefer the GT car. Now if I can just have the willpower to hold off for a couple of years haha
I did as well, I think it looks nice for what it is. I don't blame you. As I'm getting older I'm also leaning towards the GT side. The Supra is a hit a miss. Some people have said they gotten it for MSRP, while others are reporting that retarded Toyota stealerships are asking $10k-$20k over.

I just went on Autotrader and there were quite a few used LC500s for around the $70k mark.

the LC is 4400lbs fully loaded; the thing is a land yacht in comparison (albeit a crazy nice one as you'd expect) and that 10spd isn't my favorite transmission either.

I'd 110% buy an RC-F over the LC500. It's still a land yacht, but it's 450lbs lighter, and while the 8spd Aisin is no ZF8 it's much better than the 10spd that hunts around and shifts at odd intervals. also cheaper...

Wow. It's almost universally the opposite to what you said about the transmission. Everyone that I have seen loves the 10-Speed. Tell me more, you're the only person that has said a negative comment about the 10-Speed. People say the new transmission shifts as fast as a dual-clutch and has mad upshifts/downshifts too.

I never said it wasn't capable of shifting faster, I said it hunts around and shifts at odd intervals (specifically in auto mode), which it does (or at least did the last I drove it). Manual mode fixes that annoyance, but it also has issues with overheating if you beat on it, but I'll refrain from talking about that further as it hasn't come up elsewhere from what I've seen.

here's an article explaining what I was getting at:

"The LC 500ā€™s transmission uses a first-gear lockout feature to facilitate smoother takeoffs, but the sluggish acceleration from a stop can give you the impression this car isnā€™t as powerful or quick as it really is. Yes, you can bypass the lockout by pushing harder on the accelerator, but that means youā€™re never surprised by the LC 500ā€™s accelerative force because it has to be intentionally summoned. Likewise, when left in auto mode, the transmission felt hesitant to downshift quickly or deeply enough unless your right foot was pushed past the point of propriety. This behavior was slightly less prominent in the carā€™s two sport modes, but still there. Fortunately, you can shift gears yourself in manual mode using the LC 500ā€™s sublime paddle shifters."

You can also google "LC500 transmission slow" or "LC500 transmission sluggish" and find quite a bit more, but overall I'm just not a fan. It's fine if others are...

As much as I like the LC500 it does nothing for me, it's a nice cruiser that's it. As far as the $87K MKV you can find much better deals if you truly wanted one. I despise dealerships and the markups they do, the $97K MSRP RC-F Track Edition is marked up to $120K at some dealerships. Better deals can be found I'm sure but if I could run with that $120K as the "listed" price. I think the used market for the MKV will be interesting in 3 years with depreciation and how far the aftermarket pushes the car with stock motor and drive train. If the stock block and trans can hold 750HP I would say it's not a bad deal especially if they dip into upper 20K range in 3 years. All speculation at this point though.

Maybe Iā€™m just weird but the LC500 is hands down one of my favorite cars. Iā€™m definitely planning on picking one up in a few years to use as a secondary daily driver.

I've seen this pic and some modded ones in person on dealership show room at Lexus of Rockville for $150K. Don't get me wrong I like the car it just doesn't excite me even with the mods. A lighter more powerful version would though.

Even the stock LC500 excites me. As I would use it for daily driving all I really care about is comfort, convenience and looks and it has all 3 of those in my book. I guess if you want to take it to the track or something I could see why you may not be exited by it, and I understand that looks are subjective.
