I'm sure there were times where Lexus probably fought to take this MKV car and make it their own taking it away from BMW. But it wasn't successful, so it will get a BMW engine instead. That V6 to Toyota and Lexus belongs only in Lexus products. or so they make it seem.
I believe thats what happen with the LFA. I recall rumors saying that it was originally suppose to be a $100k V8 aluminum body Toyota. But in the end it got hijacked by the Lexus division.

Someone email them the link to this thread and the one on Supraforums in that case.

J/k I'm sure Toyota is well aware of these forums but they obviously already know what the enthusiast really want, look at the rumors and how excited the majority are
One might even wonder if a few of the members of this forum could even be Toyota employees....

Hmmm.. I just checked the Toyota website and built myself an GT86 premium with every sexy option (1600 dollar wheels, performance exhaust, trd lowering springs, swaybar, the whole ball of wax - it came out to $33,700.

What if base model with no accessories cost roughly$36K-$40K to price itself in range of the WRX STI/370Z Nismo, with higher models reaching at or just above the previously mentioned 55K-60K corvette/cayman? The Lexus RCF starts at 63K-65K, so bridging the gap between the 34K GT 86 Premium and the 64K base model RCF might be something to think about? Maybe?

Man I can't wait for Geneva, I'm itching lol.
It’s like the MKIV Supra and the SC300. Why didn’t Lexus directly offer a “out of the box” GTE motor with their SC300? It was a game of financial balance and co-existence of brands. “Make a $55k MKIV Supra with 320hp and a $55k 215hp luxury-filled SC300 from the same chassis, and we won’t be stepping on each others toes.” That priciple doesn’t apply anymore because Lexus and Toyota have been at a disconnect for some time now (platform sharing has been almost eliminated across the board). Toyota has dominated the SUV segment, with Lexus focusing heavily on their performance oriented cars. It’s one bank trying to balance two brands....I think we all see who is getting the bulk of the change.

Can you go into more detail? I dont know much about the difference going on with Lexus and Toyota as a company and how they are sharing the platform.

Hmm What AM I driving?
Besides the the global platform sharing and few other items you'd be surprise at how things are different. Think of it as you and your sibling, you may share your mother features or your Father features. But when you're next to each other one of you look like your mom and the other like the dad, the similarities end at you two share the same blood. That's about it, your sibling might be a fashionista and you a mechanic but neither of you have interest in each other's occupation.

That's basically Lexus and Toyota at the moment. Lexus was the younger brother that wanted to be like Toyota at one point but grew up, acts more mature and doesn't want to always be associate with Toyota. At times Lexus wants items that Toyota has and takes it by force.

They're both don't care about their now dead sibling SCION and is somewhat aware of their cousin Daihatsu.... Recently Toyota has started dating Mazda and is seeing Subaru on the side. He Recently Dumped Tesla .... Tesla is a cheating Lying b.... LOL she didn't meet Toyota's high standards.

And... I hope that makes sense.

One might even wonder if a few of the members of this forum could even be Toyota employees....
Yeah, whatever... bet they just have some intern watching or something, no way they will take things that seriously.

Jk, I'm sure they're watching, what they actually do with it, I HAVE NO CLUE.

Keywords me saying “almost eliminated”.

Toyota has been trying very hard to remove the “its just a Toyota with leather seats” perception people have of Lexus.

I believe the only 2 Lexus that do not share platforms with Toyota would have to be the new LC and LS.

Really? What about the: IS, GS, RC, LC, LS, and most recently the GX.

The only remaining shared platforms with Toyota branded cars are ES, RX, and LX....no?

The NX (if im not mistaken) is shared platform with the IS not the RAV4.
