We just need to make sure we have a good Toyota dealer for service. And that's bad how? We get gorgeous Japanese styling, with the best 6 cylinders in the world, without paying BMW tax.

These expert wannabe youtube automobile reviewers, keep regurgitating what others have said before. Try to at least be original or say something different for crying out loud.
At one of the dealers I visited before I bought mine, I had the resident Supra specialist walk me through the car and he gave me a fairly detailed explanation of the testing Toyota did and the retooling of engine parts they had BWM do to make the engine much more reliable. Toyota also did their own design of the wiring inside the dash so if the infotainment needs to be replaced, they don't have the take the entire dash apart as it would be the case with the Z4. He indicated the Supra and the Z4 are built at different sides of the factory and Toyota has much more stringent QC requirements and process. He mentioned something I have not seen anyone else mention, is that horsepower specs are for global purposes, so (he said as an example) if the car were in Dubai, it would be guaranteed to output 335 hp (at the wheels) whereas in other parts of the world it would be more. Some here might argue these points; I am just reporting what I was told. One thing i noticed is how so many people talk about how its a Z4 chassis or how Toyota just took the Z4 and then made the exterior look different.
From what i'v read and the few youtube videos i've watched, i've been under the impression that the Z4/Supra chassis was co-designed by both Toyota and BMW. And that the B58 engine in the Supra is a very different engine than the one in the 1M. This comes down to Toyota needing to make sure that the BMW parts align with Toyota's reliability. Apparently Toyota did extensive testing all the way down to the bolts to make sure it falls in line with their reliability.
It makes sense that there would be BMW badging everywhere because of where the car is manufactured, just like in the 86, there is Subaru badging everywhere, also based on where the car is manufactured.
I think people dont give Toyota enough credit for the development of this car only because of the parts that they used. But through and through, this car drives SO MUCH differently than every BMW i've ever driven in (230i, M2 Competition, 320i, X5d) and for me doesnt even feel close. Every single BMW i've driven has a very strange similar feel, doesnt matter if its a coupe or SUV, they all feel a certain way. The Supra doesnt to me. And that difference for me is very Toyota.
I must have read or saw the same thing you did about Toyota tearing down BMW engines to ensure they met Toyota reliability standards. I read or saw an interview where they said Toyota took apart the engines down to every last bolt to check if the engines would live up to Toyota reliability standards. I don't remember where I read or saw it though? One thing i noticed is how so many people talk about how its a Z4 chassis or how Toyota just took the Z4 and then made the exterior look different.

The Supra and Z4 are built on a single assembly line, not different sides of the factory:He indicated the Supra and the Z4 are built at different sides of the factory
