Hey buddy your diff is broken. Absolutely f’d to all hell.

DM me for shipping instructions and I’ll throw ya $20 to ship it to me and I’ll confirm that diagnosis personally.

If it is a minor inconvenience.....
1. It is a design flaw. How many other diff designs burp out fluid at 700 miles?
2. Toyota and their dealerships need to know about it, and push ZF for a resolution.
3. If Toyota decides that it's not worth the hassle, a note in the manual should state that this temporary leak is normal. (However, that wouldn't look good for Toyota.)
4. As a general rule of thumb, a leak of any kind in a new vehicle should not be taken lightly/ignored.

Does this mean that your diff is just weeping like the rest of them...?

I am back to: you need to be a Prius owner. This just isn't for you.

Since we're in the midst of the "Award Season 2023-2024," this has my vote for 2023 Thread of the Year

Perhaps. I'm monitoring it every few days. Based upon what I've read, this transmission and diff design is used in quite a few other vehicles. Are they all bleeding, shortly after being driven by customers?

It’s a differential, not a transmission.

They weep when overfilled.

This was happening in 2020. Why is it still happening? Was it designed and assembled by GM?

I remember the first time I looked deeper at cars.

It's happening because it's by design.

Same diff is in the M240i/M340i/M440i/Z4 M40i/X3,4,5 M40i

In all honesty we would probably have beers together and become friends.

Until he complains about the inconsistent foam level on the beers. I mean, can't the Co2 and tap designer fix that??
