I know this has been discussed before, but looking for feedback particularly from people that ended up with a 3.0 base.

A dealership offered me an amazing trade-in on my 22' 2.0 with 11k miles that can get me into a brand new 24' 3.0 base with PPF included for the same monthly payment I am currently making ($710). They are only able to find me a automatic 3.0 base absolute zero in a 300 mile radius over the next 2 months. I do have the option of waiting 2+ months for them to potentially track down a premium but no guarantees or price lock on trade-in.

As far as I know, the main differences with the 3.0 base are:
  • No CarPlay ($220 activation through BRC?)
  • Worse speakers (than the JBL wow - upgrade later on?)
  • No HUD (don't care)
  • Worse seats (have heard people like alcantra better - are these the same seats as the 2.0?)
  • No blind spot monitoring (dealership can add for $800)
  • No red brake calipers (meh)
  • No wireless phone charging (don't care)
My two main concerns are no CarPlay and blind spot monitoring. Think it is worth it to pull the trigger on the 3.0 base or holdout for the 3.0 premium?

I have a '21 A91. 60k miles.
  • MMI Bimmer tech installed, android life
  • Speakers, if you care enough, the premium JBLs aren't great, so just upgrade the base
  • Have a HUD in another car. Seems like a gimmick
  • Alcantara seats are better for occasional track/autocross, no slipping around
  • I don't even notice the blind spot monitoring, it's a weak light on this car.
  • Can get brakes painted if you really want to
  • The wireless charger notoriously over heats devices on long trips.

Not a Corvette.
Also smaller rear rotors/calipers but not a big deal if you aren't a Time Attack hero.

HUD is over-rated IMHO. I turned it off.

Seat covers are the same as 2.0 but full power I believe.

Be very weary of a dealer "adding" anything like Blind Spot functionality.

Also be very careful and look into what "the exact same monthly payment" really means. What is the actual total price of the car? Is it the same length of payments? Dealers use this as a tactic to rip people off.

Both Premium and Base can come with or without blind spot monitoring.

Premium without driver assist package does not have blind spot monitoring.

Base with safety & technology package does have blind spot monitoring.

When I started looking at getting one of these I was honestly shocked to see really how minimal the differences are. I think it just depends on truly what is important to you. I wanted the seats, car play, and the stereo. Now after owning a premium, the stereo leaves something to be desired, there are other car play options available now, and the leather makes my shirt see-through with sweat. ?

So just don't let the seller/dealer add outrageous extras and fees for things you dont want and enjoy basically the same fun platform.

What is there to be weary of having the dealer add Blind Spot functionality? Think they would mess something up?

I will say it seems pretty weak (have to get pretty damn close to other cars) on my 2.0 so might not but worth the $800.

Is it going to be OEM or something third party? Either way, dealers are notorious for messing things up.

I've got a 2020 base that has the driver pkg (or whatever it's called) that has blind spot, auto cruise, parking sensors. Also has the upgraded sound and carplay.

Personally I don't miss having a HUD (gimmick display) or heated seats (live in FL). I like the Alcantara seats better anyway. The phone charger I don't care about either. I didn't mind the basic silver calipers, but I'm getting those painted soon here.

If you don't mind not having the package with blind spot monitoring and auto cruise might as well go for it if the price is good. Make sure you know what the total price for the car is and not just how the loan payment would change

They said OEM.

Another crazy thing they brought up is they could do a sunroof on a Supra for $2k. Has anyone heard of this as an option LOL? I don't know how it would work with the sunken in roof, but sounds hilarious.

*EDIT* My bad I don't think they said OEM blind spot monitoring. It would probably be a shitty version of it and not worth risking a shitty install or the dealer messing something up. Anyways from my experience I rarely ever used or even noticed the BSM on my 2.0.

this so much.

They play that game with the monthly payment to hide the real cost. Make sure you’re well aware of what they are valuing your trade at and what the total cost on the new car is. If they give you a 7 year loan at some asinine rate (I got 4.5% from credit union after Toyota swore they could match anything but failed), well you’ll be paying loads more interest but yeah sure monthly is still the same, if you like wasting money long term.
As far as base vs premium, I nearly snatched a base model a week before I found my premium. If it comes with what they call the JBL and tech package, it’s really almost the same as premium. The car I was looking at appeared to have the exact same brakes as premium, CarPlay, etc. but no HUD (cool to have but not a big deal). And some would say the seats on the base are better if you don’t like sticking to leather.
I’d say do it if they aren’t scamming you.
Edit: wow I just saw the comment about the sunroof lol. What dealer is this and I almost wish you buy it strictly with the stipulation that they must install a sunroof for $2K just to see what they come up with.

???

Can they also put an S58 in it? Or perhaps source a PDK trans from Porsche and install that too?

Tell them to fuck off and take your money elsewhere.

The sales guy wasn’t trying to upsell me on anything. I was telling him BSM was a deal breaker and he was looking up options for the dealer to do it. As I was bullshitting with the guy he was like “holy shit there is a sunroof option for $2k?” As he looked through the options
