I wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of deal they struck with the Russian shop to keep business for both sides. The 5k price tag is a gouge if I've ever seen one, and Visconti must be smoking that good stuff if they think they'll actually be getting business for that (or either option really) at that price point. I guess if you have a June+ ECU and are really dying to go bigger turbo + port injection then maybe you'd consider it. But really for most people a jb4+downpipe+custom map is much better value than even their 2500 option imo.

$5K is a lot but let's be honest here I see people drop $7K on PPF and $2-3K on just an exhaust for these cars without blinking an eye. Or $7-10K for a full audio system. If you want a full unlock bad enough $5K is what it is.

Yes, it'll always be unlockable unless Bosch gets their hands on it and reprograms it - which isn't happening.

Some updates can be unlocked remotely.

I understand how you feel about it, I also think its expensive.
But it's more than just sending a ecu overseas.

When you start adding it all up, it's not cheap.

My plan as always is to make money on the tuning.

As it is, I have guys who have already paid for the more expensive service.

I think people's biggest hesitation is that the playing field isn't level. 2020s/early 2021s get this for free. The other things, not so much. But I hear yeah.

There's a lot of 21s inquires and my first question is - are you consuming oil. Can't imagine paying for all of this then having to deal with the oil consumption issue

Yeah I get it, I own a 21 also. I am holding off getting tuned for now but it's nice knowing that if I really want it I can have it. Hopefully at some point there will be other workaround/hacks that are cheaper and more widely available. Because this is not just the ECU for Supra, but for BMW I think there will be a lot of people trying.

But this is the future. We see it now with the C8 and there is no sign that anyone will be cracking that ECU anytime soon and I think tuning will get much more difficult if not impossible as we move to EV and fully internet connected cars.

I have an a91..my ecu was dated 3/20 so all I needed was a bench unlock..I am now tuned stage 1 93 oct....
