I agree. Nothing overly compelling, unless you're pining for the orange. And in non-US markets, the orange will likely just be a standard colour - same as all the other A91 colours.

My understanding is that it is all tied up with the financial year.

Japan's financial year starts in April. We've had announcements before then. It's completely random.

Well shit.

I always thought the financial year was pretty much standard around the globe but clearly its not.

Having said this, the rumour that production of Supras is currently paused/about to pause suggests that Magna Steyr may be retooling for the new model year? In my experience, the following year Model Year builds have usually started being built from around June/July the previous year.. which just so happened to coincide with the Australian financial year!

But now that you have pointed this out to be just a coincidence, I have no idea, lol.

EDIT: Wikipedia isn't much help either, suggesting that the "new model year typically begins in August to September of the preceding calendar year, though can be as early as February."

By retooling I mean things like, adding the new orange paint colour, software changes and minor tweaks, updating the line for that manually adjustable spoiler, etc.

What are pretty minor updates to us in userland are likely a sizeable logistical headache for manufacturing.

Honestly hard to tell when production/release is going to start when they haven't even officially announced the changes for next year internationally. Only the limited model for Japan has been confirmed through media.
