I can’t believe how bad TMCA are dragging their heels. We might get an announcement by the middle of this year on how we might be able to order the thing and how much it might cost? And yet exact specs, pricing, and ordering has already begun in the rest of the world? What are they waiting on? At least announce which specs and AU$RRP it will be! The rest of the world knows by now.

I know, its really odd. Part of me wants to believe its because they are trying to work out how to get us the lowest price available. It could happen right. ;)

To quote X-files (giving away my age there), "I want to believe..." But the pessimist in me suggests it could be the complete opposite, and they are holding out to try and see what the maximum they can charge will be, based on OS demand. :( But think positive thoughts! ;)

If you are reading this Toyota, just remember, the 86 was a hit here, and great advertising for the brand, because it was priced reasonably and so took off. The 86 was much less successful in markets like Europe, where it was too expensive relative to the competition. Price the Supra right, $80k, and it will sell well and stay in high demand!

    100%

I really hope they can price the Supra as competitive as the 86 was. That was a brilliant piece of work.

My insiders at Toyota HQ in Melbourne are hinting closer to 100k than 80k.

At that price.... it's going to be a tougher fight in our market.

Talking about the RZ - I'll guarantee that this car is no less than 100k AUD and no more than 130k AUD. There's absolutely no way the top trim spec (being the RZ) will be less than 100k AUD. Honestly, don't wait out if you think this is the case because you can just currency convert the price of the RZ in any other region (eg. NZ, US, EU) and you'll see the price in AUD.

Actually, Australia is well known to be a performance car loving market. An interesting fact I recall reading about... Australia was the 2nd largest market in the world for the 3rd gen RS Megane, after France. Let that sink in. We bought more RS Meganes than much larger European markets like Britain or Germany!

The year 1 allocation of 300 Supras for Australia might seem insignificant until you realise the entire European market has only been allocated 900. Yet the population of Europe is way more than simply three times that of Australia’s 26 odd million. Toyota know that the AU market is hungry for the new Supra, and we are one of the strongest markets for the 86 after Japan and the USA.

So yeah, we are small, but if you are serious about selling a new sportscar, you can’t ignore Australia.

yeah, we're the second biggest market for AMG in the world.

I think the RZ spec will be 85-120k

Orlando (the man responsible for bringing the A90 in) stated it would be cheaper than the top sec Z4 but more expensive than the base. So between 89 and 115k.

Other countries are receiving thier Supras and we don't still have a price. At least once the release the pricing and availability, I will be able to move on after I know for sure I 1) Can't afford it, and 2) Wouldn't be able to get one due to limited numbers anyway. Then I can just find something else to fixate on :)
