Happily! I have a great relationship with my local dealer/ tech. They alsoYour dealer will install aftermarket parts?
How did you manage to get them to do that? If it’s an improvement that can be done under warranty, I’d be willing to try.Happily! I have a great relationship with my local dealer/ tech. They also
Completed the speaker sub box mod (the vent holes and sound deadening under warranty for me last week! )
I'm going this weekend to do my CDV delete at Speed Logic. Your clutch was slipping before the CDV delete correct?Just had my Clutch Delay Valve removed by @Speed Logic
Immediate thoughts, things felt a lot smoother, especially between 1-2. I didn't get to really get on it but I'll be doing some driving this weekend.
Currently at 770ish miles. Whatever is causing this premature slipping must be material related or mechanical somewhere else. I don't think this mod is the solution but hope it helps in the long run.
I'm confused. Doesn't the CDV help preserve the clutch? I thought that was the whole point of bmw doing this. For anyone interested in removing their CDV, I did a small write up. Again this is not going to be a magic cure for anyone experiencing clutch slip, but it does make clutch engagement feel way better and can help to prolong clutch life somewhat.

I have still yet to experience any clutch slippage before or after the removal. My motivation for removing the CDV was just the more consistent clutch engagement/improved driving feel.
No it essentially just adds a little bit of slip every time you engage the clutch by restricting how fast pressure can build in the clutch line/slave cylinder. If you're just driving normally this probably won't make that much of a difference in clutch life.I'm confused. Doesn't the CDV help preserve the clutch? Yeah, it's interesting to witness just how quickly the issue subsided. No it essentially just adds a little bit of slip every time you engage the clutch by restricting how fast pressure can build in the clutch line/slave cylinder. Edit: I notice how we haven't heard of anyone else having clutch slipping problems recently. I wonder if this was just an early build issue.
The purpose of the CDV is to shift the burden of poor driving from warrantied parts (axles, differential, transmission gears) to non-warrantied parts (the clutch.)I'm confused. Doesn't the CDV help preserve the clutch? I thought that was the whole point of bmw doing this.
I've just stopped replicating the behavior that leads to the slip, every once in a while I still get it randomly and live with the smell for 20-30 minutes but oh well, I don't dog on it that hard 99.99% of the time so I have just come to accept it.Yeah, it's interesting to witness just how quickly the issue subsided.
I've been considering the $600-$700 clutch upgrade from Clutch Masters for the MKV. Maybe worth it after all to add more power.I've just stopped replicating the behavior that leads to the slip, every once in a while I still get it randomly and live with the smell for 20-30 minutes but oh well, I don't dog on it that hard 99.99% of the time so I have just come to accept it.
I've had a few little "flare-ups" myself, but I equate most of it to the combination of the iMT and CDV messing with "my groove, man." Much better with the Gear Shift Assistant turned off.I've just stopped replicating the behavior that leads to the slip, every once in a while I still get it randomly and live with the smell for 20-30 minutes but oh well, I don't dog on it that hard 99.99% of the time so I have just come to accept it.
I didn't even know that was an option - assume that's buried in a sub menu somewhere?I've had a few little "flare-ups" myself, but I equate most of it to the combination of the iMT and CDV messing with "my groove, man." Much better with the Gear Shift Assistant turned off.
I also stopped caring the moment the aftermarket upgrade kits became available.
If you're asking about gear shift assistant, its in the customizable sport mode settings when you hit the sport mode button. But gear shift assistant is the automatic downshift rev matching so if you turn that off, just know you have to rev match yourself on downshifts.I didn't even know that was an option - assume that's buried in a sub menu somewhere?
