Hi
I have my supra now for a Week and on a longer trip the I-phone was on the charging pad for a while ( Blue light on) than Apple Carplay started acting up and when i took the phone out of the cradle it was very hot. I had Spotify going and the Google maps. My phone is a I-Phone X
Any body with similar experience? Is there a fix ?

No fix. The charger isn't great, and the phone gets hot. I haven't personally seen it get hot enough to interfere with operation, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

FWIW - wireless charging is often hot. I prefer to just use a cable.

The charger is trash. Horrible placement and won’t fit most smart phones on latest gen. Plus if you ever run a radar detector then the cigarette lighter is in the way

Seems all iPhones fit fine, maybe it's your choice in phone that's trash.

You can remove the cover that goes over that tray…

Same here with my iPhone 12. From what I have read, continuous charging causing this abnormally high amount of heat to the battery, will cause damage to your battery that will negatively affect battery life.

No modern phone is dumb enough to just dump power into the battery constantly. They'll stop charging the battery when it's full, it's not going to damage the battery by plugging it in more than necessary.

Totally normal for phone to get warm on the wireless charger, and if you all haven't already removed the stupid little shroud cover, DO IT!

Wireless charger is garbage on all BMWs/Supras. (Tried both iphone and Android Pixel and heats up quick and charge is extremely slow). I just use cable.

My 22' Nissan wireless charger is far superior and doesn't heat up the devices.

I find that my iPhone 12 Pro Max overheats on the cars wireless charging pad much more frequently when the phone itself is in a cover/case. Even a very thin wireless charging compatible case.

I don’t often use the 12V outlet (lighter outlet) since my detector is on a mirror tap, so the placement and size of the charging tray and it’s shroud are fine for me.

I was impressed with, I think 2019, rental Malibu that had active phone cooling. It's a remedy for sure, but didn't have any issues with the stupid iPhone warning me it's overheating, can't deliver peak performance and it's shutting down.
I'm not on the program, but my current company is developing wireless charger for new BMWs. I sincerely hope that they're addressing this with, if unable to resolve overheating itself, some active/passive cooling. Gotta find time to find out more...

I'm sorry. I didn't realize we had "Cellphone Battery Experts" in the forum. I suppose all the people that are complaining that it's not your typical phone getting hot, but rather, your phone getting so hot it stops working, are just a bunch of idiots that are over-reacting and imagining things.
Suicidaleggroll, may God have mercy on your soul.
