With a heavier knob, does shifting get more vague (ie - less feedback, harder to tell which gear it’s in)?
Apart from feeling nicer in the hand and (for my money) looking a lot better, I think it's much of a muchness, really. Does it feel better? Maybe.. but at the very least I don't think it makes it feel any worse. It doesn't turn it into a Porsche/Honda box, that's for sure. ?

Seeing this makes me wonder if I should laser engrave some shifters for you guys ?

I have one at work that I use all the time to engrave whatever if you send me a DXF or idea. Metal only

wouldn't have an issue with me doing some off the clock lol

I'll pick up a knob to test it out!

This style won't work for me. I mean how would I remember where the gears are, esp reverse.

Does anyone make a shift plate? Didn't want to cut the boot.
If you mean an old style shifter gate like a Ferrari uses then I don't really think you can use one on the Supra because the shifter shaft dia is too large. You need a thin shaft diameter and a fairly wide side throw to use one I would have thought. On the std shaft you would end up with impractically narrow gate slot separator fingers if it was even possible in the first place. If you look at the shaft dia below the aluminium fitting for the knob removal you can see what I mean.

Was thinking something along the lines of this. Little shift plate cutout/shift boot delete, couldn't find anything like it though.

Some of us just do not like any alcantara on surfaces where the hands go cuz it will get ugly real fast ?‍♂ .

Not familiar with that brand but Raceseng has the adapter so you could email them to see what thread is on it. Might be able to adapt the ARC to that. You could also get a die to cut threads on the OEM shift lever but goes back to what the ARC needs. The lever diameter might not match the threads you have to cut which will further complicate how you can tackle this.

1 or 2 companies were working on a short shifter option but I have yet to even see an update of it in social media. Since our throws are already shorter than other stock BMW most of the available options might not provide any benefit to our platform.
Agreed i do not like alcantara, it wears out after time faster, had it on my 370z nismo, i dont like the feel either. i prefer leather/synthetic leather than that way more
