Yep. That's the first thing I noticed when I went to pick up the car. I knew it had bigger brakes, but was surprised at how big they looked in person. I wouldn't mind keeping the stock fronts... but rear brakes just kill me. What I meant by my previous statement is that the M cars have the same design. Rough finished caliper painted in a gloss color. Just reminds me of people spray painting their cheap calipers. Even my F-Type R had similar brakes in the rear.

I'd would be more than happy to pay less for OEM calipers if I can manage to get them finished and mounted properly without janky work arounds.

I know I probably sound like I got something broken in my head, but I have severe issue with attention to detail. I'm going to continue looking at alternative brakes.
Most modern cars have the 1 piston slide rear calipers because the rear does hardly any braking. However, I 100% get it. They look cheap. Imagine paying $120k for a M5 comp and seeing those rear calipers.

Yep. Like you said... I understand why, but damn. It kills my soul. I've had cars with proper rear brakes. Even my GR Corolla had nice rear brakes. It just confuses me that more expensive cars go this route.

I'm not saying they are bad. I had R1s on my last Supra build and had issues with the rear brakes when mounting them. Also they cause the EPB to get stuck sometimes, but I resolved that by making some adjustments. They look great as well, but my brakes started having the coating flake off from the heat.

I just feel like going with a company that makes everything in house and has great customer support. AP Racing rep got back in touch with me and just gave me all the information and even offered to give me a tour of their facility in NC if I decide to pick up the brakes in person.

I will say this:
  • R1 Concept: Great + fast support and replacement parts. The fitment issue and the EPB issue for the rear is something other people on this platform experienced back in 2021/22. Not sure if that has been resolved
  • APG: fast response to inquiries. never got past this stage, but it's always promising when someone is offering great service right away.
  • Signaturewerks: never replied to me
  • Ceika: Never replied to me
  • rolloface: I think I got an automated reply about powder coating colors... which didn't answer my inquiry I sent them. I'm still waiting for a proper response.
ECS as in ECS Tuning?
East Coast Supra. Sorry.

They are a killer deal, thats the primary win.

Positives:
- Price
- Fronts are simple and fit great
- Decent pad availability, once you find the right type
- Full sized rear caliper with an EPB

Negatives
- Rear fitment can be a pain. The bracket I got put the main caliper in front, and the EPB caliper 180 degrees opposite at the back. The issue I have is that the EPB motor and the KW DSS shock plug make contact under full compresion. SW has a new bracket that flips them supposedly.
- No instructions
- Terrible communication, meaning very little help from them if you run into issues. Ive emailed them 3 times to get the updated rear bracket and heard nothing.

I also had an issue during install where I somehow got air into the ABS cylinder, which required ISTA to cycle during bleeding. That was a pain and caused some pedal softness until I fixed it. The included pads suck balls, dont bother with them.

Overall Im happy with them, they look amazing, and perform great the few times Ive tracked them. Heres a pic of the rear (drivers side) so you can see the bracket system.

I agree with these sentiments. I used the ferodo ds2500 pads and they were too thick out of the box and had to be shaved down in order to not drag. The paint on my calipers was horrible. Dirt in the finish, missing gloss in some areas, and missing paint showing primer in visible areas of the caliper.

I have the newer kit that has the rear caliper towards the back and the ss line they provide is not long enough to reach the oem hardline in its factory mounted location. I pulled the line out of its mount and its hanging in the air zip tied behind the wheel looking ghetto.

No instruction and terrible communication (pre and post purchase). I tracked them twice so far and they have performed excellent. In my opinion the issues they come with would make me choose something else if I had to start over again.

Thanks for this providing this feedback. I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the extra money. I've waited a while on a response for SW, rolloface, and Ceika. No one has responded to any of my inquiries. If you can't even get in contact with someone to sell you a product, imagine how the support will be after you've bought it. I don't want to deal with that.

I guess these studs are my first modification to the car. I ordered 2 different set of nuts. I have one set in raw titanium and another set that's black. This way I'll have the option to swap them out whenever I want something different. I also test fitted my other set of wheels a few days ago to see if I got the fitment right. Looks good so far:

This took WAY longer than it should have to swap the studs in. The back tire got stuck on the lift... it was the last one left. Reinstalled the tires. Brought the car back down. Moved the lift. Lifted care back up. Took one tire off, then checked the problem tire to see if it was still stuck... and it was still stuck. Put the one tire back on. Lowered the car and it sat on top of one the the hydraulic hoses. I couldn't move the damn thing. Lifted it back up. Moved the hose. Tripped on the hose which caused the fitting at the base of the lift to come loose and start leaking fluid. Fixed that... Then after all that I was finally able to do the conversion.

I have a feeling everything I do with this car is going to be the same Looney Tunes bullshit.

I also bought a trunk mat since this dumbass edition car didn't come with one for some reason. This took 2 hours to install as well.

… stock 2021 Supra. I also don't feel like the car is going to send me to my maker when I hit a dip or bump in the road like last time. I think that was resolved in later model years, but it's still nice.
best description of how i feel my 2021 rides lol

Pulled this stuff out today:

I'm guessing this is what the Z4's brace looks like since it wouldn't need the arms welded to it. I decided to go with the CPM brace since it doesn't come with the arms and looks really damn nice for something no one but the owner will ever see.

Took the bracing off in the very rear to get it powder coated in semi gloss or satin black to match the big ass mounting bracket. My wife was confused about this and asked me why I would get it painted if I won't ever see it. I responded with, "I've got problems."

Finally, someone I can relate to.

You mind posting your wheel stud setup/brand again? I think it was deleted when we had the update.

Got my the under brace and the strut damper pieces back from the powder coater today. One in high gloss and the other satin. I know the underbrace will never be seen by anyone, I just think it will match up nicely with the black mounting bracket instead of being raw metal. Also... the under bracing is super legit and have a bit of weight to them.

I've got some titanium hardware that should be here tomorrow that I'll be using to get the strut damper installed.

I got them from a machinist in Virginia. He also has an Ebay store called Zakgear.

Got the strut brace installed today with the new hardware. I dropped one of the washers in the radiator bay somehow. Luckily I have to mount the bottom brace, so I'll try to find it while I'm under there. I wouldn't think anything of it if it wasn't overpriced titanium. Is additional time out of my life worth a $3.50 washer.... Yes.

Hell yea! You don’t want that extra washer weight increase 😂
