The phantom grey takes a lot of maintenance. It's very brittle without the clear coat. I considered it, but decided against it.
It isn’t as brittle as you think. The BMW Frozen paints are pretty forgiving, unlike regular matte paints. It’s when you have to fix something that you’ll have a bad time, since you can’t just touch it up or buff it out. Plus washing it is different…not difficult, just different. Putting on PPF really helps to simplify things though, and if done right preserves the look.

Oh, and my understanding is that it does have a clear coat on it, just less so. Otherwise the finish would be too soft. BMW has some material (web pages, videos) that go a little more in depth about how it’s applied to the car and care.

A quick search would take you to this video put out by BMW, and would apply to the Phantom:

Practice Limbo so you'll be ready to get in and out of your new Supra without hitting your head or falling on your arse.

Also avoid heavy greasy foods so you can fit inside your Supra..
Agreed. As a guy in his mid-30s with 2 herniated discs and a rebuilt knee, getting in and out of this car definitely adds 40 years rather quickly. A targa top would've been a nice factory option.

I worked as a BMW Genius(product specialist) for 18 months. Reading the owner's manual is an unfathomable concept to 99.999% of the driving public.
Interesting...:hmm: hahahaha

I read the owner’s manual on every single car I get. And do as much research as I can on it. I think the new generation of kids just want to be spoon fed information and not have to do anything themselves. Not referring to the OP….
I’ve always read mine as well. My Dad never bothered. When he got a Lexus, I had to learn how to use the Nav so I could tell him. Of course he never used it?

Guess it depends on age.

Thanks everyone! I just got back from test driving one. It's an unbelievably enjoyable ride! I can't wait to get mine! I'm not too worried about the care of the paint. I've been watching plenty of videos on the subject. It'll be my daily, so I'll be making sure that I care for it well. I just hope I don't get in too much trouble with it.
I've owned a corvette c6. It's not my first time in a car like similar to this. It will take a little bit to get used to the handling and size of the car.
