Is Akio okay with this? Is he fine with how the car is? Or does he not have the clout to change Toyota's mind?

Or is it BMW that has him just leaning back and accept this?

I would imagine any car has to have his blessing before the green light is given. But I couldn't tell you what he's thinking. He can do whatever he likes though, and most certainly isn't beholden to BMW.

Whatever the car ends up becoming in the end, he and his team have ensured that it'll be the best car for whatever target market they're focusing on. There's a certain amount of trust we have to put in that. Akio is an incredibly shrewd businessman though, and has a powerhouse of a team. They're not interested in making flops, that's bad for business.

That's about all I can comment on that though. I think we just need to take a backseat now and let Toyota do their thing for now. The world had most certainly made clear what the expectations are.

Please tell me we didn't wait all this time for Toyota to charge us twice as much for their version of a Nissan 370Z with no manual transmission, better interior, and an unproven engine. It's sad when the closer to reveal we get the less enthusiastic I'm becoming.

New Corolla hatch should be on sale sometime soon. Shaping up to be quite the little car. :)

Would agree that this forum has certainly made clear what there expectations are as well as what we dont want...

I saw it and was impressed all around. Manual, somewhat light weight, sporty and obviously reliable, all under 20k too if I recall correctly

Are y'all even getting the new Supra? Last time I check the A80 wasn't sold in the land down under. :p
