Changing tires and brakepads was odd(unfair)... but glossing over the Z's fuel cutting issue while harping on the A90's wind buffeting issue was super odd. It's very odd for nissan to not have fixed this massive design flaw lol. How is it okay to keep releasing a line that's had fuel starvation issues across different models since 2002... Sometimes it's 3/4 of a tank and they'll still do that shit lol... I mean come on. I'm sure the Z will probably be fun to drive when I finally do get to test one out, but there's nothing showing that it's even in the supra's league.

Exactly! Thinking if someone wanna put E85 in Z, they need first to upgrade the gas tank but the flexfuel kit...just unheard of for any modern sports cars?

Right, but it's a cheap fix that takes mere minutes to install. But somehow they have clung onto that like it steals your soul.

:dunno:
And so they should.. until the manufacturer addresses it. If it’s a cheap aftermarket fix, in bulk for Toyota this would costs cents.

Toyota need to be reminded and embarrassed about this until they fix it.

Lucky it’s not as serious as the fuel issue Nissan has ignored. WTF. ?

Nah, the 1st gen 86/BRZ also had fuel starvation issues in the corners from the factory. Tons of cheap fixes, some as simple as a little fuel door flap that gets installed onto the pump that closes keeping fuel trapped by the pickup.

Not sure if I want to put myself through watching this video. I don’t agree with a lot of Marks/Savage geese’s opinions on cars he reviews. Also based on the cars he personally drives we have much different preferences.

The VR30's stock oil pan, which is made from plastic, apparently gets damaged quite easily (who knew that isn't a good idea lol), and the Z has zero underbody protection in that area. An aluminium oil pan like the one from Z1 motorsports cost about $450.

With GR Supra, you won't even need to worry about silly things like that.

Another amazing video from Mark & Jack - these guys are the crème de la crème of automotive videos imo.

I'm not sure where the bias talk that you guys are hounding on about. I thought they were very even keel and covered all the bases - dyno stock numbers, aftermarket support, track times and even made tires a non-factor.

I don't think many people here have driven a Z yet, so it's silly to say 'oh they're wrong about XYZ' when you have no point of reference. Largely whether you like a car (or not) is subjective. Anyone who has driven a Miata or LC500 knows that the numbers sheet doesn't tell the whole story.

What is not subjective is the numbers they published:

Objectively more power? Supra.
Objectively faster round a track? Supra.
Objectively better engineered with more overhead? Supra.
Subjective styling, interior & handling preferences? Up to the individual.

I'm just thankful we have people out here who publish real data like this, rather than having to rely on a Motortrend/Car & Driver who put out review scores & opinions based on how much $$$ exchanges hands. :)
Amen to this. I'm in the GR Supra camp, but I love the Z and I understand its benefits. They are both amazing cars.

The GR Supra is an amazing, state-of-the-art contemporary sports car that punches above all limits for a bargain price. It exceeds expectations of what a GR Supra is. The interior is extremely high quality, amazing infotainment system, and has great materials. The engine + automatic transmission combo is godlike. It spanks cars like the Cayman and goes toe-to-toe with the Corvette. However, there are some demerits regarding interior space, or some things being a bit too synthetic, especially when you compare it to the Z.

The Z is a genuinely great sports car that is simple in nature, and it helps that it has an older platform where there may not be any elements muffling the experience. It's old-fashioned behavior is refreshing in a world of all of these cars where they can be a sensory overload. While not being an outright numbers car like the GR Supra, it IS an impressive car for what it is. The biggest flaw is that it's sorely overpriced for what it offers, and for not much more you have a knockout sports car, the GR Supra.

They're both great and I love them a lot. It would be such a blast to have them all. This is a moment where we cherish all of these cars being built.

The fact is, both of these cars were built with compromises. The Z had to use an old chassis basically dating to the early 2000's but did all the right things by putting the best of what they have mechanically. As for Toyota (despite them being the world's largest car company), given the situation that Toyota was going through internally since the 2008 Great Financial Crisis, there has been a ton of infighting regarding the future of the company. To take less risks, they codeveloped this car with BMW. And that's fine, given that we know how hard the two companies worked on the two sister cars, and like how Nissan worked hard with the Z with their extremely limited budget.

I'm shocked at y'all disparaging Mark to this level. Savagegeese consistently gives us the best reviews in the automotive YouTube space and I hold his reviews very highly and the quality of his work is second to none. I don't worship the guy or saying he's God, but he and Jack are very honest about their opinions and I understand where Mark comes from when it comes to defending the Z in terms of driving feel. From watching the review, I appreciate that they were being frank about the GR Supra's capabilities, and can understand why they weren't a fan of how it can feel a bit more artificial than the Z (and most of what has to do with software tuning).

I will concede that Mark was too hard on the GR Supra in this review compared to other ones, but one review doesn't mean that he's a bad reviewer overall. Everyone naturally has pre-programmed biases, and they both have their preferences. What's important is that they did not misconstrue the facts and the hard numbers. But my defence of Mark for this review stops there.

They first admit that they needed to change the tires and fluid (brake pads are a dealer option so it's still okay) on the Z to make it equal to the GR Supra but don't call out Nissan with the Z having some demerits out of the gate. I'm also annoyed at how Mark just harps on little things on the GR Supra but barely cares about the fuel starve. Also when they were doing the suitcase comparison, I was highly expecting that they would put the suitcase in the trunk of the GR Supra, because ***newsflash***, you actually can. But when I saw them just banging on the trunk to show it has a narrower opening I'm just like... you seriously couldn't put it in longitudinally? I'm also sick of the crying about the "fake engine noise" and the "wind buffetting". For the former, you can disable it with a snap of a finger, and for the latter you can get some parts for cheap online to fix it.

Point is, I wish we are more nuanced when it comes to having discussions. Tribalism gets us nowhere.

This perfectly expresses why I don’t get my news or reviews from social media. If this is the best YouTube has to offer, I’m glad I’ve avoided taking it seriously thus far. What a joke.

if you can’t watch that video and see the obvious agenda being pushed, you’re either affiliated and playing pretend or really should brush up on your comprehension and critical thinking skills!

And its PERSONAL LOL.

He does not get to say what is a 'drivers' car. Sure for me I know what I like. But he has NO FKN clue what applies to his little bald world on YOUTUBE THAT PAYS HIS bills or mine or anyone else's LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - STFU and give us useful data we can digest along with our OWN sense of what might work or not. Please stop making videos. YOU WONT BE MISSED.

To the people who still want that ripoff from Nissan, don't cry and complain when someone in a GR Supra or a Camaro SS or a Mustang GT blows the doors off your near and dear Z.

I could feel this but I will just use the throttle pedal lol and see them get smaller LOL :)

In a serious note, folks have limited or allocated funds for a car that makes them feel good as enthusiasts and drivers. It could have Lada badge or Trabant but- are you happy as the driver and do you feel good and have fun enjoying cars as we have them. Thats all.

FK YouTube and the controversey driving agenda fools. Narcissistic in their ways at times. We feed them by wasting our lives watching their trash. They get views and PAID based on EXACTLY what that bald human being pushes in that video. Enough. Turn it off.

Im lucky if I watch one a month now. My life changed how? ZERO. Their is better help and feedback on this site.........LITERALLY!
