Not a Corvette.
Right handers is definitely the place for fuel starve, especially the longer fast ones where you've got the car loaded for a bit. COTA carousel it did it to me every time if I went more than 2 laps. E50 blend, but that was going out on a full tank each session so Lap Battle last year kinda sucked.

Local tracks it'll do it in a few places, but not as quickly as COTA.
Yea any E-blend will do it faster as the fuel demand is much higher.

Fuel starve on stock power, 200tw tires, no front aero, stock dampers at COTA after 3 laps. 4 gallons or more from full and you’re done at carousel.

I will say, fuel starve has been much less common for me than heatsoak has been.
Damn VIR sounds like so much fun! Not as familiar with this car yet like you guys. Only done 7-8 track days with her… I occasionally get a slight hesitation in 6th gear at 110+ mph on a straight. I would expect fuel starvation to be during a turn. Or so I could remember in my RX8. I never got it in my S2K and haven‘t felt the hesitation on acceleration coming out of a high speed turn in the Supra, yet… I don’t doubt anyone, for sure. There are only about 3 over 100 mph throttle on big turns at Sebring, rights and lefts.

It’s funny though, some of the fastest Supras out there are stock engines and very little suspension upgrades. So to 2nd @Todday1 shout out for new peeps to use their free track day. It really is a great way to appreciate what this car is capable of out of the box. It‘s really impressive to say the least.

And speaking of starvation. I did finally get tread starvation ?

These poor tires did track days with a stock alignment and many many other setups. Even at the very end, they griped like a beast! Other tires I’ve used at 50% or more begin to slide easier on the edge. These suckers hang in there like a champ! Less counter steering on the high speed turns all the way to the very end… Putting on some new Maxxis rubber today and dial her back down to a -2.5 camber in the front, with a slight toe out ?

Yeah it’s really been a mix bag of try everything. Tire pressures all over the place. At lower temps (say in the 50s) I was starting between 28-30 psi. As the day heats up, went down as low as 24 psi. I did have a few sessions I forgot to pressure down and came back in after sliding around, only to find out my pressure was up to ~44 psi ??‍♂. Those poor tires have been through hell & back, and way too many setups. With and without springs, sway bars, stock alignment, -3 camber square, & just playing with lots of stuff. I used to do this with a race team in my other cars and really took them for granted (apparently ?) . That being said, I’m going to settle with -2.5 all around, pinch toe out up front and toe in rear. Found two race alignment shop in my town, great mechanic and started talking to some old racing buddies again. Appreciate everyones advice on here and especially you throwing this thread up! Looks like you’re having a crap ton of fun out there ?

What pressure are you running & at what ambient temps?

So I used 12 sets of tires in two years. Have tested the following - 275/35/18 square set up on APEX 10x18 rims. Federal 595 rsrss, Federal 201M, Nitto NT1, Hankook Z214, Maxxis rc1 and now rc2, Nankang AR1, Continental extreme contact sport, Hankook rs4, Kumho escta v730. Aligment set up that seems to work best -2.8 front camber - 0 tow, -2.6 rear, 1/32 tow in. Tire temps hot with a heat gun( I have pyrometer but to lazy to try and do this in the hot pits) are in the 180 to 200 degree range and fairly close all the way across and they wear down fairly straight until corded as I defiantly try to get all the use out of them. We are hotter in AZ so air temp is in the 80 to 100 degree range all most of the time. Even with all these different tires the starting cold temp that works best is 26/27 psi. Then on first run the usually come off at 35 to 36. I drop hot to 32. Check second session and may have to drop 1 pound to stay at 32 hot. Then are set for rest of weekend. I tried dropping Maxxis to 30 hot and rolled/ corded the left front before they were completely done so I think they are a little more sensitive and like a little higher pressure. So we could have a whole chain on tires if anyone else wants to jump in.

tires every 2 months for 2.5 seasons. lost track haven't tried as many different ones.
SC3r are magic
SC3 are really decent and wear well
AO52 are still king if you are going for a timed lap but fall off after 5 hard laps
OEM- meh
Nankang CRS my favorite so far for traction and not falling off

cold and hot pressure are about exactly the same for hot Humid VA. Cooler months not as much in between sessions. In July/Aug seems like they want to balloon after 3 laps- can't let enough air out some days

I am not familiar with SC 3? I also hear good things on the A052 as part of the fast 200s. I have not yet went to purple crack with Hoiser yet but may get some just for time trial but also changes my classing. The Hankook z214 are a 40 treadwear so semi slick. Definitely the fastest, but lasted 3 track days running 4 sessions each day and they were done so more expensive, hence why I have went back to 100 or 200 tread wear group as this also forces you have to drive better instead of relying on the tire. Plus your wallet likes you better. After all you do not win HPDE 4( lol) Time Trial maybe, we are all just out getting our personal best lap times and having fun.

Good point on the name of thread. Looks like there a few more people looking at this and having an interest. Could always restart something if needed so will see how it goes. I really hope more new people to track days get engaged as they do not have to learn everything the hard way and can benefit form those that have been running a lot of sessions. Not everyone has to be a track nut, and most are still their daily drivers. Mine could be a daily driver as it still has everything in it, so I have taken the car about as far as you can go on mods and still be a daily driver. I have a roll bar, race seat and full six point race harness for example but also left stock belt and installed receiver so I could use that on the street. It just attracts a lot of attention with the full on race wing and numbers on the side otherwise I would probably drive it more! I still do take it out. So anyone who wants to talk about doing some mods to do a bit of both but still keep the street appeal of the car I am sure we can give some pointers.

was trying ref these... left out the "r" doh

they are very very fast. but wear accordingly. semi crack
I get why 200tw seems to be the sweet spot between wear, price, and traction...

Nankang CR-S my current favorite 200tw track day tire. They are almost A052 pace but without turning into pudding 2 laps in like the A052's do.

V730 great for the price but off pace from CR-S. Probably the best "normal" track day tire for the price with a good pace but if you are going for PB's, I would pick the CR-S.

-2.5 front camber seems too little for serious track use. I'm at -3.4 and I still get outer shoulder wear but mainly because Lime Rock is hard on shoulders because it's 99% right turns which just pounds the drivers side tires.

Other than the Lime Rock specific wear, I get pretty even wear on my tires.

I have not run the Goodyear SC3R yet but I want to. I have had feedback that they are pretty close to Hoosier pace.

Tires I've used:

A052 - staggered 19s when I was on TEs, 255/35 & 275/35 and 295/30/18 after going to the square T7. Fast right out the gate, but wear sucks and they fall off fast.

RT660 - staggered 19s as well from TE days. Least grip of the 3 but still ok pace. Wear a lot better than the other two.

CRS - 275/35 and 275/40/18. Current favorite tire, grip levels very close to A052 but don't fall off a cliff after 2 laps.

Don't remember all the specifics, but I know I was at -3.7 front/-2.7 rear for camber last year. Car felt good, wear is good, may keep these specs or go a little more for this year.

For sure. I would say Im a competitive event track nut and daily the car reliably. I think you can be smart about your mods as far as "on-track-benefit vs daily-use-annoyance" without making the car unreliable or unsuited for daily use. The only things that change between dropping my kid off at school and a competitive PB setup at the pointy end of the leaderboard is tires, brake pads and splitter. I also daily rt615k+'s because Im really into making immature decisions, but thats a personal thing :)
Tires Ive used on this car with my personal takes on each tire so far for time attack are OE Michelins (blah), PS4S's(meh), Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's(trash), Falken rt615k+(good heat tolerance and reliable grip), RT660's(same or better heat tolerance as 615's but higher grip), Advan A052 (ok heat tolerance and easy to heat up with best grip, just get your fast PB laps in on lap 2 or 3).
