Yeah I've heard multiple times that our cars run hot. I figured I'd see some sort of limp mode before it gets bad but still worrying when I see it creep up haha. I'm on 0w-20 as well, thought about going to Liqui-Moly's 5w-30 but I'm still on rhe fence. I know many people do just fine but idk. I'm curious if/when some sort of aftermarket oil cooler will be released in the market. I know we have one already but I'd imagine there would be a market for one with more capacity.
20w is for MPG ratings. I wouldn't do track days on it for very long. I did 3, which is too much, IMO.

Won't limp. But will pull serious timing

The oil cooler actually works very well for being a non-radiator type. It's on the block under the filter. Big silver block. If you notice in my logs above it's basically not much difference in oil temps with 20*F more ambient. I need to log later this summer when it's actually hot and humid.

The timing on the temp question is interesting as I am in AZ were it is hot. I have all the cfs bigger cooling radiators and a verus hood vent and have recently been experiencing were the car would not accelerate out of some of the turns after a few laps. Water temps stay in middle range so never get high. And I initially thought it may be something else. Oil temps however have run in the 145 to 147c. Range, And then when it hits 150c it basically pulls timing and also will not down shift so kind if stays in cruise control mode. So I am now looking for options on oil cooler but have not really found anything. So is limiting turbo boost etc. no “limp” mode but definitely says no more power for you until it cools down. It drops fast as soon as you are off the boost but is an issue in the hotter climates.

and what are your IATs and water temps like? They all play off each other. Cooler water temps will bring oil temps down, etc.

Heres some reference for the Apex 18x11+40 square on 315 RT660s. No spacers but after using them for a weekend, I recommend at least a 3mm spacer, as others have said, when using these wheels with tires bigger than 295. Heres a comparison to 265/35 rt615k+.

I do not have a data logger so was just using the hidden temp gauge on the car and so water was round the 135c range and on the bar gauge on the dash never went above the middle. Just driving normal it runs around the 105c to 108c water and oil is just slightly higher. Really have not had issues but also did not run a lot in the summer. Ambient air temps start at 95 to 100f this time of year so we take a break now until September. I will need to get a data logger so I can start looking at this more closely. I expect we eventually will see some adapter plates to Separate into a air cooler/ radiator but this could also require a bigger oil pump so probably why you do not see them as that is a much bigger project. Has not really been an issue for the rest of the year when the starting air temps Are much lower. So was interesting that you are seeing more posts about it.

Ah interesting. And what oil weight were you using? Sounds like the exact feeling I got with fuel slosh. Had a half a tank and came out of the gulch at Pitt Race like a bat out of hell and the car just fell on its face for a half second then kept going. Weird thing was I didn't get an error until it happened again. Then read the code and found it as fuel slosh.

I'm running the HKS springs at the HKS factory height. Tbh I quite like them. However I don't have much to compare against since all my other cars were on factory suspension and I had the supra on eibach springs prior.

I'm definitely going to get coils next year (probably some custom valved Fortune 510s from Cygnus performance). I will say high-speed compression and rebound could be better but that's sort of what I expected considering the springs are toward the top end of the dampers range.

Oil is 5 -35 liquid Molly special tec. Plus I use prolong additive. Mine also occasionally falls on its face from fuel starve on some corners especially if it us below 1/2 tank. I also am running 30% ethanol mix. But the oil temp is different. It actually is progressive as you first start feeling like is a little less power on Laps 3 to 4 and then once it gets to 5-6 and oil temps are in the 145 to 147 range it starts shutting down more. Then at 150 it really says no more and is like you are stuck in high gear so it cannot pull higher rpm and boost until it drops

I do and I dont. While theyre stiffer to handle the increased load and Ive been able to put in decent times, in hindsight I would have just jumped straight to true coilovers as I would like more wheel travel and appropriately valved shocks with the added spring rate. Others' skill and requirements differ so my experience may not be the common one and they could fit someones needs.

So here is a great visual showing what I mean that water and oil temps influence each other. It's not really summer here yet in the North East but this session was 85* and you can clearly see oil and water temps following the same trend.
