Updating pretty much everything on my car after a disappointing session last month. New set of RE71RZ on the fronts slipped a good bit on the wheels which was surprising as the RS’s never moved. Car pulled a lot of timing, way off top speeds. 85 degree ambient.

Have 2 way MCS coil overs coming, Wagner manifold going on, all new 295/35/18 square RZs mounted on apex’s and the 999 pads. Installing Razorlabs data logging setup so hopefully be able to contribute some data numbers back. Money guns need a cooldown now.
I mount/balance all my own tires, and there's a pretty direct correlation to amount of lube used and amount the tire will slip. The RS and RZ are both somewhat stiff tires so if the shop had trouble mounting them they may have used more lube. Nothing bad, and not much you can do about it other than watch for vibrations, then get a rebalance. You can ask the shop to break the bead and clean any goop in there, but no guarantee it'll solve it.

I was at Buttonwillow for the weekend. Using Ferodo DS1.11 for the first time and after four sessions I'm mostly pleased. Also my first time running RZ's. I've never run RS's so I have no reference for comparison to the two, but I like the stiffer sidewall compared to the AD09's I was tracking with for two years.

Coincidentally, my clutch started to slip. Decided to just send it and let the clutch die a slow death and kept going for all four sessions. Someone posted here recently that their 6MT clutch started slipping after 10,000 miles. Well, I'm at 14K miles and it started slipping on me. In before come in here and tell me I don't know how to drive manuals... car is modded with more power than it's designed to handle, it's driven hard... it's whatever. New clutch time!

What power mods do you have and estimated (or dyno) numbers for torque/HP? Just curious MT owner here

487WHP, 495WTQ. Tuned to have a more linear tq curve. Apparently there’s people running more HP/TQ on 6MT and have no issues with slipping because they know how to drive and the people slipping don’t.

Any recommendations for 200TW's for 18's? My stock PSS are pretty smoked and I picked up a square setup. I still street drive a few days a week but aim for 1-2 events a month.

Going fast or just lapping?

Conti ECF for true endurance with reasonable pace and they work ok in the wet in my experience. I'm also a huge fan of Supercar 3 for a dual duty tire as well, but I've heard (not experienced) they're not so great in the wet. RE71RS for best pace and wet performance but less endurance.

Interesting to read this. I had the same experience on all my track days except for one. One look at the Lap Times thread and you can tell. All of my laps, except for those in Las Vegas, were down from what they should have been. I couldn't figure out WTF was going on, but the car would NOT pull out of corners and was way down on MPH on the longer straights. I was sorely disappointed.
I never got to back and redeem myself.

What are the key weaknesses of the Supra that need to be addressed to drive the car hard all session on track for HPDE 20-30 min sessions and sometimes longer (I.e. Chin happy hours) when ambient temperatures are between 65-90F.

Advanced driver driving 8-9/10ths

Normal track prep would include track pads, track appropriate brake fluid and motor oil, 200TW tires

No aero or power mods
Stock suspension

My research suggests the following must be addressed:
Engine temperatures too high
Fuel starvation in long right-hand sweepers
Insufficient negative camber
Insufficient caster

Did I overlook anything that is a “must do“ item? If so, what?

Going to depend on track(s), driver, power.

Stock power you can lap all day long with some power pull when it's really hot out and a bunch of laps in.

Cooling wise with stock or close to stock and wanting to beat it on all day in hot weather, intake manifold.

The coolant temps will be fine.

Bryan:

Tracks: Watkins Glen, COTA, Barber, OIR, and VIR.

The driver is your skill level.

Stock power.

The Supra is a bone stock 2026 FE with 6MT (except as prepped for the track day).

If you want no potential of power pull, intake manifold. However, all stock, you should be good for a bunch of laps.

How real of an issue is fuel starvation?
